Here's why the environment is a non-isse with Rethugs....
I was down in Rocky Point, Mexico a few months back. There's serious water quality problems there, as it's basically a desert that runs right up to the ocean. So, as they try to pump underground water for the city water supply, it's drawing in more and more salt water. The water is now such that nobody (not even the Mexicans that have lived there all their lives) drinks it straight from the tap.

What do they do?

They buy bottled purified water from the water purification company. Note the point of that sentence. Due to the environmental problems, they buy their water from a company.

So, what does that mean for you? As drinking water quality problems are ignored here in America, it means that you can either drink water of questionable quality from the tap, or you can take the money you were going to save, and spend it on a water filter. Or bottled water.

The day won't be too far off when we'll have to purchase personal air filtration equipment, or buy bottled air. Then as global warming causes weather disruptions, new farm and irrigation equipment will have to be bought. As existing seacoast buildings are swamped, we'll have to buy new ones. From who?

Everybody who guessed "Halliburton" wins the Special Bonus prize for today!

1. also, there's the upcoming Rapture
Given that the GOP is controlled by the Religious Right, and given that we're living in the "End Times", we really don't have to worry about the future of the environment cause we'll all be up in heaven (well, not us here of course...)...

In fact, if you look at what the Religious Right says about the environment it is exactly in line with the anti-environmental agenda of the GOP. And it's not a coincidence... see http://www.TheocracyWatch.org/

2. I used to camp on that beach!
John Wayne moored his yacht (a mine sweeper) there in the 70's. Sad to read that the drinking water there is so terrible!

5. I was just saying that the other day !! the AIR ***buying clean air**big $
Just talking about this with a friend and realized that there will be a day that you will have to get a special filter and oxygen tank for your airtight house...then you can get into your airtight car and turn on the oxygen in there.

The reason I thought of it is because
I live 10 doors down from the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles..
Very Nice neighborhood--

Every 2 days I wipe off the tv screen and the window sils-
-my white paper towel is BLACK !!

The freeway automobile smog settles on everything!!

The soot looking stuff is just what you can see-
-just think about the invisible stuff!!
I feel congested alot and no one in the house smokes
(nor does anyone here purposefully put any type of
smoke of any kind into lungs for any reason).

I have 2 cats with asthma.

The air "looks" ok --the sky's not brown or anything when you look up- from my yard-sometimes in the Hollywood Hills you can look out and see brown haze across the Valley)

Just think of what the Factories are bellowing out into our air !!
And the new Boosh Clear skies initialtive--to allow more pollution!!!!
You're right--!******
It's all a business scam--
Money above all else-
these neo con job fools must be stopped before they end up stopping everything (including all life on this planet!)!!

8. I can remember a time when the air in LA was dark brown.
The air is getting cleaner, not dirtier. This is inspite of vastly increased automobile traffic.

7. Do not breath that foul air
Move! There are plenty of places that are better than what you describe.
