Clark as SecDef?
Hey Clarkies,
Can any of you cite the legislation that saws General Clark can not serve as SecDef until he's been out of the service for 10 years? I know it's pretty widely accepted here but I've never seen anything to confirm it and I brought it up to some non-Duers and they didn't believe me, so I told them I'd check it out.

Thanks,
Mike

1. I have no idea
And quite frankly, it doesn't matter. None of us are making this decision anyway. If he's eligible, I'm quite certain he'll be considered.

Sirjwtheblack,
I didn't ask whether or not it matters... I was just wondering about the legality of it. :)

Does anyone know?

Best,
Mike

2. Sure. Let the GOP Senate have fun turning him down...Bobby Ray Inman

Bobby Ray Inman (1994)
Nominated as Defense Secretary
Bobby Ray Inman, a former admiral in the Navy, withdrew his
nomination as defense secretary in January 1994, apparently concerned
about inquiries into his past business dealings. At a news conference
announcing his decision, Inman accused his critics of
practicing "modern McCarthyism."

Admiral Inman was a stellar officer, with a LONG record of
distinguished public service. Sound familiar?

11. I think he has more to offer as Sec of State,
even if the SecDef prohibition weren't there.

I know Holbrooke is also contending, but he could do a lot as Amb to UN, which will play a large role in putting the planet back together after it is rescued from Shrub's play-pen.
