Mr Stern, I'm a 42 year old male who used to listen to you back when you were on WNBC. I don't listen to you on a regular basis, sorry, but I must commend you for having the balls to confront these fascists at Clear Channel. My only question to you would be - where were you 2 years ago when these fascists were acting as the enablers to evil, knowingly lying to the world in regards to Iraq? From their domestic agenda of destroying the New Deal to the lies about the threat posed by Iraq, the Bush Administration and their allies in the corporate media have been cloaking their extreme rightwing agenda under a "compassionate conservativism" facade. Does your sidekick/co-host, Robin, understand what happened in Florida during the 2000 election concerning black citizens? May I suggest you talk with Greg Palast, an investigative reporter that uncovered a voter purging operation in Florida with the blessings and cooperation of the rightwing governorship of Jeb Bush. I don't like your brand of humor, however, I fully support your right to speak your mind politically - and that is what is being stamped out in this move by Clear Channel to silence you. As long as you were pro-Bush, you were safe. Is this the America we want to leave to our children? I know words like "fascism" are loaded terms and could potentially be written off as the ramblings of a nut, but consider this - How are we to know when fascism arrives? Are we to recognize it's arrival when jack-booted brownshirts start marching down the street? When books are being burned? When the police ask you for your papers? Or is it a slow, gradual process that is fed with the daily rantings of rightwing ideologues such as people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage and their local radio wannabes? Has it arrived when people are arrested for charges of "terrorism" and held without access to a lawyer, as Jose Pedilla? Or is it when lawyers themselves are charged with aiding terrorism simply by representing a client, as is Lynn Stewart? Has it arrived when criticism of policy is met with charges of being unpatriotic, anti-American or "your either with us or against us?" ---All of which I just mentioned has happened yet not a word of criticism from the rightwing talkradio crowd or the corporate owned media. There is no alternative talk/informed radio other than what the corporate rightwing allows to be aired. Leftwing talk radio is non-existent and it's pretty clear as to why that is. Corporations don't like to criticized and they don't like there political allies being scrutinized to the extant of having people minds opened to what they are really about. Your relatively short-term negative analysis of the Bush Administration has resulted in you being silenced. What does this tell others about what NOT to talk about to keep their job? Is this not a form of fascism? The truth is revealed. Free speech is violated if your silencing originated from the actions of the US government. Since it was a private corporation that did the silencing, your "rights" have not been violated, in fact, you have NO rights. Those are given and taken away by unaccountable tyrannies also known as "corporations." Please don't feel you are alone in your "violation." There is a woman named Valerie Plame who is/was a CIA agent whose shoulder you might be able to cry on. You might want to do some research and see how patriotic it was of the Bush Administration to expose her identity in retaliation for her husband being critical of the Iraq blunder.
