What's the deal with the Michael Eisner bashing @ Disney?

Is this all about the financial performance of the company? Or does it have something to do with some Bible-thumping gay-bashing wingnut social agenda? I saw that even the freepers had a thread encouraging people to vote their shares or whatever, so I kind of suspected the latter had something to do with it...

3. It's his running of the business

Roy Disney retired from the board after Eisner closed down the Disney animation studios. Then a few weeks later, the deal with Pixar went bust. Since Disney is known first and foremost for it's films, there is a concern that Eisner wasn't managing things to well.

Also, being here in Central Florida, there is a concensus among frequent Disney World visitors that profits were becoming too heavily weighted in the running of the park. The little extra things that kept Disney World different from other theme parks are no longer being done. Rides aren't kept up as well as they used to be, and there are fewer employees keeping the parks clean.

All in all, Roy Disney had serious issues with the way that Eisner was running the company and felt that the priorities were being set wrong.

they lost Pixar, for goodness sakes! all of their most recent successful films have been done through Pixar. now they're screwed.

I'm a long-time Disney follower. The problem with Eisner has been, basically, that he's been doing things on the cheap and the Disney product has been suffering. A prime example is the California Adventure park--built cheap, it shows, and now Disney practically has to pay people to visit the park. And they've made cheap, awful, direct-to-video sequels of classic movies just to make a quick buck. Eisner has been cheapening Disney for a quick buck and the fans are angry.

A lot of other companies have also fallen into the trap of cutting costs to the point of alienating their customers but Disney has the curse of devoted fans who will raise a stink and call them on it.

6. The park was a bad idea from the git-go.

California Adventure is an homage to all things Walt Disney did not want Disneyland to be:
Off-the-shelf rides
Midway contests

No "wienie" (in Disney parlance, the hook to make them want to see
what's around the corner), other than the ones in charge, who think
the only purpose of the park is to sell more of the same cheap
souvenirs you can get anywhere.

It was more profitable when it was a parking lot.
