They get what they deserve: Ppl who get drafted who vote for Bush or Nader
I am declaring here today that I have no sympathy for kids who get drafted into George W. Bush's army in a second Bush term IF they voted for Bush or Nader. Young Bush lovers should have to go off and fight in all the wars their president has planned in the next 4 years. Young Naderites may need to learn a pointed lesson that there is a real difference between the parties and candidates by getting drafted. The chickens will come home to roost. I will not aid or assist ANY draft resister who voted for Ralph Nader or George W. Bush.

10. great...should the republicans NOT have disenfranchised people in florida?
if so, perhaps it would be worthwhile to suggest to them that they don't do it again in 2004. that way, we can all vote for whomever we choose, and the democratic candidate will probably win.

4. That's interesting.
I thought we voted by secret ballot or something in this country. How were you planning on identifying these Bush and Nader voters?

7. Hey though
My daughter is in nursing school and since doctors and nurses (the young ones) will get drafted - and we're DEFINITELY voting for Kerry - even the innocent will have to pay.

I've already told her I'm going to have to shoot her in the foot - or something - SHE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

8. Dear goddess, protect me from some of Kerry's supporters
Just when I have decided that I have to hold my nose and vote for Kerry in November, one of his supporters comes along and makes the decision less clear.

9. Wow!
That is sure an attitude.
So, you would not aid or assist or support anyone for NOT participating in a war (because you disagree with their vote)?
Would you care that even a bush-lover might not want to kill an Iraqi?
Do you care about or have sympathy for the Iraqis, who have no vote?
What would you do to Kerry-voters under a Kerry draft?

Don't use a Democratic Presidential Candidate (like Kerry) as a scapegoat for our responsibilities as Americans, regardless of party.

12. If a Bush-Lover doesn't want to kill an Iraqi
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 05:30 PM by TNOE
he voted for the wrong guy - and chose the wrong career path.

Our responsibilities as Americans does not include dying to help the Bush's get richer... don't remember reading that in the Constitution.

Oh and we do care about the Iraqi's - that's why we'd like to leave those who are alive that way - and get the hell out of their country.

16. I don't know if you got my post
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 05:48 PM by WitchWay
I think that you misunderstood my post.

I am trying to say that is it okay to let political reactionism get in the way of ethics. I am talking about forgiveness, and about putting aside pettiness to combat something serious (like war). Has party loyalty gotten people so LOYAL as to betray their own ideals? That's what I'm getting at.

Also, it's not about a chosen career path - I am responding to the original posters hypotehtical draft situation. I don't concur with the poster that wishing a bush voter punishment (in war, which is ALSO wishing others harm as well) is an okay thing to do. Its vengeful.

By the way - read about the Dem party's Progressive Internationalism, and see about Kerry's plans to build up the army by 40,000 in his first 100 days in office if you think that Kerry is so opposed to war.

Furthermore, I am pointing out that A democratic vote shouldn't make a person feel "guiltless" for imperialist policies and wars. Look at Clintons' record carefully, if you think he was a pacifist.

19. Sorry...
I am deeply against the war. I'm sorry if this hit close to home for you, I hope that you are all right.

I think that it is crucial for America to become as anti-war as possible in as many ways as possible, including accepting republicans or people who voted for Bush in the anti-war movement.

Don't freak out too much about Bush. Bush is a terrible president, but I don't think that Bush voters are necessarily terrible people. I am much more frightened of the imperialist policies that permeate both parties. I am simply urging that we keep these imperialists in check, no matter who holds office.

14. Jeez whiz, man.....
I've been as relentless in my haranguing of Naderites in the last few weeks as anyone, but, fer crissakes, I can understand what they're talking about when they read shit like this. It's inflammatory and kinda insulting....and frankly alarmist.

This is the kind of post that makes me ashamed to be such a rabid ABBer myself.

These are fucking KIDS. EVERYBODY is allowed to make fucking MISTAKES ONCE IN AWHILE. Just because they disagree with you doesn't mean that they don't deserve your help, or deserve to go overseas and die.

That's fucking disgusting.

23. This is terrible and somewhat irrational
Nader voters are okay in non-swing states; and they are a far-sight more useful than NON-voters.

Bush voters need psychiatric help at this point.
