Leahy apologizes for being a Dem Says as Senator "Stolen" Computer Docs
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 08:33 PM by KoKo01
are serious but Hatch gets bigger part of statement and Leahey gets a short statement where at LEAST he said the documents were "Stolen."

I've always been an admirer of Leahy but he's coming across as old and befuddled. I know the Repugs have "locked down" all investigations, but for Leahy to start off saying "I say this not as a Democrat, as a Senator that this needs to be addressed."

Sounds like a big cave in to me. My take on this: "Computer tech flubbed up, Mr. Pickles is an honorable man who did an excellent bi-partisan investigation, we hope to get to the bottom of this, but we have worked together and we love our staffers, and think this is a problem for both sides, and we think it warrents further study.....but we think it needs more time, and since it was just some 'staffers' but we refuse to adknowledge WHO these REPUG STAFFERS are.....and so we've redacted their names..."

Leahy is bringing up Watergate but he's deferring to Hatch and backtracking although he says that they are still "looking" at the ramifications.

Hatch said to reporters that there was NO EVIDENCE of LEAKS. We here on DU know these memo's were leaked to Washinton Times, WaPoo and NYTimes and who knows where else.

It's sickening. I just have to hope that Leahy is "holding back" and that this will be bigger than it seems.

Right now they are denying that the "Leaks" did any damage. (RIGHT!)

Just doddy old men who don't know how to run computers so they leave it up to a Computer Techie who gets the blame for this "Hack Job."

Disgusting! :puke: On Edit: Seems the "two Senate Repug Staffers are going to take "the Hit" for this. Yeah...who ordered them to do it...and if they weren't ordered then why did they think it was "OKAY" in the first place. Are they going to blame it on Janet's Boob?

1. didn't Leahy receive some 'curious' packages in 2001?

perhaps that explains it...

2. Leahy...one of the most liberal Senators, a Deadhead....
A man who was nicknamed "Leaky" by Rush Limbaugh...a man who received Anthrax in the mail.....BushCo obviously has something on the guy, to keep him in line.

4. Hatch has taken a beating on this issue from his own party and
assholes like Limbaugh. I think he and Leahy are friends, and I don't think Leahy is enjoying this at all. This is unseemly stuff that has embarrassed the GOP already, just another PR screwup in a long series of them. Death by 1,000 cuts.

I just think Leahy is sincere when he says that he wants a thorough investigation done for the good of the Senate institution, and he wants to avoid looking partisan. He thinks we win on this issue regardless of what ever else happens.

Letting the GOP self-destruct, and being in the position to take the high moral ground, will be to our best benefit. Just be damn sure that when they lie, we let everybody know it, and when we catch them cheating, we call them on it.

BTW, I hope I'm as "doddy" as Seantor Leahy is when I'm his age. He's a great man, but he's very loyal to the US Senate (like Byrd, and Moynihan, and Baker) and he'll always try to be a gentleman. He's a Vermonter!
