O'Reilly: Kerry using Vietnam service=Bush use of WTC footage
Does anyone really believe that Kerry using his Vietnam service is the same as Bush using WTC footage from 9/11? How would you counter this arguement.

1. No one is a man touting what he did while awake at the wheel
the other is a man touting what he did while asleep at the wheel.

14. I just wish Kerry didn't gun down innocent VC
He never should have admitted to those war crimes. This will be brought up I'm sure.

18. Bob Kerrey, not John Kerry
...wrong U.S. senator. Bob Kerrey was the one involved in the shooting of VC if I recall correctly.

2. Kerry testified publicly about his Vietnam service
...if Bush will testify publicly about his role in arranging 9/11, I'd call it even. :)

3. Look, O'Reilly is the enemy. Always has been. It will get worse.
Son of a bitch will end up as nothing but Bush's pool boy by this summer. Cater to the base, you bastards. Go ahead. Make our day.

O'Reilly's the prick who proposed that the US start its very own Gulag Archipelago up in Alaska.

4. I thought the fool O'Really would not have his tongue
up Bush's ass after he apologized for Bush lying us into war. Isn't that what the fascist's jester said?

7. No, he didn't apologize for believing Bush*...

...rather, he said that Bush was misled by the CIA, conveniently headed by a Clinton appointee. O'Really said that Bush was given faulty info by Tenet, and he (O'Really) wants to know why Tenet still has a job.

Because it is simply impossible that BushCo didn't hand-pick / filter what little intelligence came their way, right?

O'Really's tongue is still firmly planted in Bush*'s ass...

5. No.
Kerry released all his Viet Nam records and now it's time for bush to come clean on 911.

6. not the same
Kerry's pictures of his service in vietnam help show how he was willing to serve and potentially sacrifice for his country. Especially when showing those pictures in conjunction with him later protesting the war. It shows how he learned from his experience and wanted to help fix what he saw as a problem. He got involved willingly, he showed real leadership and courage.

Bush just happened to be president when 911 occurred. It had nothing to do with his policies or agenda and his leadership from then on has been controversial at best. He used 911 to quiet his enemies and abused the emotional attachment many people feel towards that one event

8. The same? The two aren't even similar.
One is promoting his combat veteran status.

The other is an AWOL chickenhawk, televising pictures of dead people to scare the public into voting for him.

9. Not at all equal.
Kerry served two tours in Vietnam, honorably.

On 9/11, Bush hid for 12 hours when his country needed him most.

Doesn't he recognize that every time Kerry's service is raised that Shrubby's AWOL is brought out into the lime light to be reviewed again?

15. Kerry was *in* Vietnam
Bush fled Washington for a whole month after learning about the possibility of terrorist attacks. Kerry earned the right to talk about Vietnam. Bush ought to shut up and hide his face. And for that matter so can O'Reilly and "I was in the Peace Corp" Matthews. Funny how the empty barrels make the most hollow noises.

It's the same damned thing for their whole lives. Kerry earns his chops while Bush gets everything handed to him. Bush is toast.

21. kerry is showing HIS service, bush is exploiting other people
kerry is showing what he did himself during the vietnam war. bush is exploiting other people for his own gain. if he wanted to do as kerry did which is show what he(bush)himself was doing he would run ads showing how he isn't funding those firefighters, how he is not cooperating in investigation into 9/11, how he hid during the terrorist attacks.

23. The difference is this
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 02:50 AM by atre
Kerry risked his life in the service of his country. He may be exploiting that for political gain, but he only capitalizes upon the sacrifice he made; he does NOT capitalize upon the sacrifice of others.

Bush, on the other hand, is attempting to score political points by exploiting the loss of 3000 human lives, the tragic deaths of other people. Bush did not at any point risk his own life during the 9/11 attacks... In fact, under cover of military protection, he leapfrogged from underground bunker to underground bunker while true heroes put their necks on the line.

It is the difference between a Profile in Courage and a Profile in Cowardice.

24. Flying around in Air Force One with tail between legs
hardly compares to risking one's life day after day after day in a war zone.
