Is Dean the Anti-Gore?

Think about Gore's personality, and what criticisms you may have heard about the man. Now contrast that to Dean...the men are policy peas in a pod, but personality opposites.

Does this help explain Dean's tremendous surge as of late? Are we looking for a better Al Gore, an Anti-Gore?

2. I like both of them

Either would make a great president. Gore has more national govt experience as well as military service. I enjoy the personalities of both men and I just can't relate to that as an issue. We already know that "the guy you'd most want to have a beer with" sucks in the job.

And as far as Gore's "personality" ...I liked it. But then I didn't listen to what the rite wing was saying about it. I formed my own opinion.

That seemed to be a compaint against Gore while he ran, and when he decided to not challenge Bush in 2004.

A lack of intestinal fortitude.

I don't know if the charge against Gore is true, but can you imagine anyone saying the same about Dr. Dean? ;-)

9. I don't think the "charge is true"! There are other reasons

for not pursuing that path other than lack of courage. I think it takes more courage to do what he is doing now than the obvious route.

And I do think Dean has the guts to go all the way and beyond. I'm really encouraged that so many other People are thinking the same.

11. Another Anti-Gore Point!

(BTW - when I say "Anti-Gore," I don't mean that I am against Gore. I'm a definite fan, used to help out on the Gore04 website for a bit. I do mean that Dean, or the Dean campaign, seems to be doing those things we often wish the Gore campaign would have done)

The Dean campaign is perceived as a bottom-up movement, drawing most of its support from individuals, while the Gore campaign was a top-down unit, with all the weight of the establishment behind him (until the end game, when the establishment deserted Gore--bigtime.

The Insurgent vs the Establishment. Dean is the Anti-Gore.

14. I'm new to politics since 2000 and when I first read about

"grassroots movement" I was enthralled and I wanted it to happen for the Dems and to be a part of it!

And by Jove I got my wish with Dean!

because he already is in the center. It is because of his position on the Iraq invasion (magical thinking folly descending into a entrenched disaster), that provokes the "liberal" label that many of his fellow candidates shrunk away from in whoring themselves voting to support *.

He is what he is. If he does start "moving" somewhere, he'll lose a lot of people. I don't see that happening, in any case.

You call him stiff, I think he's authoritative, as MDs often are.

Perceptions....

Dean is too liberal.
Dean is really conservative

Dean is "stiff" (as in, he doesn't hug and kiss female reporters)
Dean is too quick to show his anger

Dean is "Republican Lite" (because of his fiscal conservatism)
Dean is far left (because he's "anti-war" when he's actually anti the now-failed war in Iraq)

We all know what the media did to Gore; most of which was incredibly false, and stupid. What I like about Dean's campaign is that he's actually answering those charges, very early.

God, I want to see a Dean-Bush debate!!!! When, of course, Dean wins the Dem nomination.

Gore was a mealy-mouthed pussy in my opinion.

Picture a guy flat on his back getting his nose smashed and his teeth knocked out and he's sputtering "ya know, I see your point of view, and I appreciate your passion here, but ...."

Take some responsibility for where things are now. We keep blaming the repubs for everything, well, maybe we should look in the mirror.

The republicans have taken over because we've let them. We need to take back our country, and this starts with Howard Dean.
