400,000 Americans gave up looking for a job this month.
Just plain gave up.

Reported on CNN.

A couple of minutes later, Bush's "steady leadership for changing times" ran.

Yeah, George. You know exactly know where you want to lead this country.

Into the ground.

1. Just remember...
Those 400,000 won't be consider unemployed by the system used to determine unemployment...so if/when unemployment goes down, it'll be because people have given up, not because jobs are returning.

4. Yep. I've been there.
1990 under the "steady leadership" of Bush I.

Hoping to miss that opportunity under the "chimp" off the old block.

5. Where do unemployment numbers come from?
I have often suspected that those whose unemployment run out (yet they still haven't found a job) don't get counted either.

2. Hmm, December and January's blooms are fading from the rose
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/reuters20040305_238.html

"The report also showed job creation in December and January was weaker than previously thought, adding to the gloomy tone of the report. The department revised lower its count of jobs gains in January to 97,000 from 112,000 and for December to just 8,000 from 16,000."
