An example of why we do not stand a chance in Iraq
Now how clueless can our leaders be?

Bremer also lashed out at the saboteurs blowing up fuel pipelines and wrecking electricity grids.

"Sabotage against the infrastructure, whether it's a refinery or the power system, hurts the people of Iraq most of all," he said and noted the attacks on pipelines and refineries had caused a shortage of diesel fuel.

"Saboteurs are enemies of Iraq and enemies of its people," Bremer said.

Now do you think that the average Iraqi getting out of his dark bombed out home in the morning thinks, "gee I wonder who my enemy is today?". When stumped they further think, "gee I bet my new colonial governer, of that country that bombed the crap out of my home, can give me some guidance."

On top of that it reminds me of some of the stupid things adults tell school children in an attempt to control them.

"you are only cheating yourself"

"Clowning around in class only hurts everyone else in the class"

That sort of thing.

1. Bremer might as well say
"Owners of steak knives and cap pistols are enemies of Iraq and enemies of its people."

Jeez! How profound!

2. The best example of why we stand no chance in Iraq?
Viet Nam. And the fact that we have obviously learned NOTHING from it!

3. Bremer is a short timer. He will be replaced within a couple of weeks
They are going to bring in some real hard nosed bastard next, and things are going to get real bad, real quick. Watch and see. The people running this thing from Washington do not have a clue what they are going to do next. I don't either. That is why I did not want to go in there.

Well, I have to both agree and disagree. I think what you're saying is true in Iraq. If someone came into my country from abroad and bombed my house, I would assume that they are the enemy, and I would treat them as such, including insurrection against them. Aux barricades! etc.

However, your analogy to the classroom is wrong, wrong, wrong !

I am one of the Neanderthal Hard Rightists who actually do believe that academics is the primary purpose of school. The teacher is not the enemy!!!!! Kids are in school to learn!!!!

Nerd Power!!!!
