Ann Coulter on CNN declaring Utopia
She cannot understand why anyone is talking about jobs...Bob Dole didn't talk about jobs when Clinton's unemployment rate was 6.4%

Wolfie and CNN are right on board with the Bush/Rove Bullshit machine.

2. Because 6.4% was better then Bush's 7%.
Clinton was proving that his economic policies were cleaning up 12 years of fiscal looting.

6. these people are nuts
gas is really expensive, only 21,00 jobs created last month, not the 100,000 they said would be, continued layoffs, boarded up businesses in old line suburbs, rising prices and salaries not keeping up, most local and state govt's are broke, hmmm no, there's no problem.... :( everything is great in the Bush recssion! 37. And if you really look at it
the number of jobs doesn't tell the whole story as one below me already said. You have to look at how much those jobs are paying, then you can really see how many QUALITY jobs were created. That means a lot more than just how many fast food jobs were created paying a wage people are unable to live on.

34. Employment Saturation Was FAR Better
That's the index of the employed folks times the household median income, divided by the total population. It's an indicator of the sustainability of continued growth of real GDP. It's not an artifact of GDP growth, but an independent driver.

In 1996, this index was 64% higher than it is today. Yes, that's right! 64%!

So, she should stick to talking about things she understands. Oh wait! That would be NOTHING!

3. All things being equal, why shouldn't Bush show war dead?
Wolf brought up this great point...Ann could only stammer and say "That doesn't sound very patriotic."

Huh?

They really don't get it.

She is psychotic.

"What is this 9/11 commission supposed to do, find out we were attacked by the Swedes?"

Dismissed the entire thing.

I'm going to vomit.

39. I think a legitimate Kerry ad--
could show war dead as a consequence of the war.

I went on the record here in another thread saying I don't have a problem with Bush's use of the 9/11 imagery.

Likewise, I don't have a problem with the use of post-invasion imagery to tell Kerry's side of the story.

I'm sure that would piss somebody off too, but politics is a sh*tty game.

Bottom line is that people have got to grow a pair.

8. The sick part is her success
Coulter is an entertainer as are most of the people who show up as pundits. She has an extreme shtick, kind of like Stern without the sex.

Her job is to be outrageuous. She has a truly warped view of the world but it has made her a "success".

She came on the talking heads shows during the 90's to attack Clinton. She would never have gotten the notoriety if it hadn't been for Clinton and the VRWC.

28. no doubt...I love how she's a self described "constitutional lawyer"
excuse me while I cough <*BULLSHIT*>

This woman is a worthless piece of trash, who I think does not believe a word of what she says - she has perfected her schtick, and it works. She stays in the news, she is financially supported by reich-wing sugardaddies, and gets to hob-knob with the fascist elite.

I would love to see her legal resume. I wonder how many cases she's actually worked on.

22. Fifty years ago....
Coulter would have been a marginal-at-best figure like a George Lincoln Rockwell or an Oswald Mosley. Today, she gets airtime on CNN, Fox, etc. in order to further the theory that the right doesn't get enough airtime anymore.

It doesn't make for good reading when the margins engulf the page, does it?

13. My biggest fear...
is that her opinion has some sort of influence. She is legitimately crazy. And not even in a funny way, like someone talking to himself on the subway. She's crazy in a demonish multiple personality type of way. She needs to be stopped as do all of her ilk. It's bad for the country.

Ann Coulter is a nutcase, obviously... But does anyone else in here think that making jokes about her being "manly" is hypocritical of alleged liberals? I've seen like 3 in here so far. Come on you guys & girls, there are WAY better negative things to say about this person...

"Liberals aren't really for free speech," "liberals are hypocritical," etc. Please tell us the acceptable way to insult a fascist. You know, like the way the fine upstanding folks at FR respectfully NEVER call Hillary Clinton "Hitlery," or call her a lesbian, a murderer, etc. Sorry, but our buddies on the right changed the rules, and now we're syuck with 'em. If you want to "elevate the discourse," take it up with Gingrich. We have enough Devil's Advocates around these days, thank you very much. In fact, they have a lock on the presidency, the House, the SCOTUS, and now, apparently, the media.....

We're just callin' 'em as we see 'em, sir.

33. Calm down...
Dude, or dudette as the case may be, I'm as liberal as you are, so I certainly wasn't calling all liberals hypocritical. Christ, why would I be here if I thought that? I only meant to say (and I think it's a completely valid point) that we can't go on and on about how gender is a construct, religious ideas about what's natural are BS, etc. (all that totally good stuff), and then turn around and mock a woman for not being "sufficiently feminine" just because it suits our purposes. I was trying to say that our side should always try to be the bigger people, and that we don't gain anything by adopting the tactics of our enemies. Isn't it enough to say Coulter's a Nazi without having to add that she isn't very pretty? Where are all the DU feminists to back me up here?

38. P.S.
But our disagreement does raise an interesting point: How far is too far when it comes to contradicting ourselves or using "juvenile" tactics in order to get people on our side? Do we live or die by our principles or is this "total war?" A good thread to start for someone with enough posts to start threads...

40. acutally I agree that women are subjected to a physical
analysis, plus the cognitive crap/fascist analysis and that probably isn't quite as true for men. Plus I don't think ad hominem arguments are very effective either, too easy.

Also, it is almost as if Margaret Thatcher and other scary right- wing women around the globe can't be real women because women aren't supposed to be so evil! (unfortunately that is not the case.) for example I wish Condoleeza was on the right side instead of the dark side.

On the other hand, since I have been here a little while I have come to see that we do have to fight back as best we can and at times, get them before they get us. That is unfortunate, but a reality.

and welcome

14. Anne Coulter is as crazy as they get
She's as nutty as a fruitcake

From today's paper we see...

The unemployment rate held steady at 5.6 percent, the Labor Department said, mostly because many people have stopped looking for work since late last year, removing them from the government's official count of the unemployed.

<snip>

The problems showed up in nearly every corner of the labor market. Manufacturers cut jobs for the 43rd consecutive month. Hourly wages for most of the workforce rose just 3 cents, roughly at the rate of inflation. The average length of unemployment increased to 20.3 weeks, its highest level since 1984.

20. Be pissed at CNN, not KKKoulter
KKKoulter is a sideshow freak, not a credible news/political analyst. It is deplorable - but not surprising - that CNN stoops so low as to give that asshole airtime.

But that's why I have given up watching CNN, MSRNC, and Faux news; the language that comes out of my mouth in response is not good for my 2.5-year-old daughter to hear, what with her sponge-like mind.

"In fact, Jesus' distinctive message was: People are sinful and need to be redeemed, and this is your lucky day because I'm here to redeem you even though you don't deserve it, and I have to get the crap kicked out of me to do it."

so nicely sums of the rw wacko view of humanity and the world.
