Ted Rall dropped by NYT
(from www.prorev.com)

FOLLOW ME HERE: TED RALL'S WORK has been dropped from the New York Times' online editorial cartoon page. The Times said that, while respecting free speech rights, they had an obligation not to offend the sensibilities of their readers and that Rall's work did not fit the "tone" they try to set. Rall attributes the decision to Republican pressure and an orchestrated campaign against him since the controversial March, 2002 "Terror Widows" cartoon that placed him on right-wing hit lists.

WE PARTICULARLY LIKE the explanation from a Times Digital spokeswoman: "After two years of monitoring cartoons by Ted Rall we decided that, while he often does good work, we found some of his humor was not in keeping with the tone we try to set for NYTimes.com." We always suspected that the Times had monitors instead of editors.

1. When do the neoMcCarthy hearings begin?
It seems were rapidly approaching this level of censorship.

3. Tone? Tone??? Tone??????????
Yeah, their new "tone" is to support wars of aggression and conquest without question, hire "journalists" like Tom "let's blow em up and sort it out later" Friedman, David "BushBot" Brook, and Judith "CIA Plant" WMD Miller and boot out anyone who is mildly critical of the junta.

I'm glad that the only sensible writer for the NYSlime (hell, what's his name, the economist?) hasn't quit his day job. He'll be next.

17. Krugman
Krugman and Bob Herbert are all that's left.

I cancelled weekdays after they hired Brooks. Now I guess I will have to cancel Sundays too.

It's freaking incredible to me. They let Brooks spout his LIES with impunity, they hire a literal mouthpiece for the neo-con junta and let him say whatever the hell he wants with NO regard for the truth, and they let Rall go??????? Rall, who has one cartoon on the weekend, tops?

21. Thank you. That's him
I'm sure he's looking for a new paper to write for. It's only a matter of time before the NYSlime is totally and completely Fauxized.

19. Time will tell, RB. Only time will tell.
I appreciate your certainty but before I believe it, I have to see it.

For something like that...

There is still the chance (and if we are to be honest we have to acknowledge this), however small, that we have misinterpreted everything, are victims of groupthink, and things are not as bad as we think.

However unlikely it appears, it's always possible. I like to try and keep that in mind.

So I will reply to you, when I see it I'll believe it.

by William E. Kennard ...

but, what I want to feel comfortable with is:

... when the New York Times 'endorses' a Democrat (while, in the same breath, quels dissent in America) ...

am i suppose to be happy?

what part of 'there ought to be limits to freedom' wasn't clear?

14. As someone has already posted,
FUCK THE NEW YORK TIMES!!! I wouldn't wipe my ass with that rag. I get it online and if it weren't for Paul Krugman and a couple other columnists I wouldn't even bother with that. I've always found something a little disingenuous about the writing in that paper and after they TWICE (that I know of) described the Bush administration as one that had "mostly avoided scandal" I knew that it wasn't anything I wanted to waste anymore of my time with.

She claims to be a journalist while she is, in fact, a cartoon.
