anyone else notice the suspicious lack of troop casualty reports..
since the first of the month? Wasn't there a repub memo floating around several months ago stating that troop casualties would need to end by March? Have the attacks on our troops leveled off, or just the reports of their deaths and injuries?

1. Or are they just stopping patrols
The whole country's a mess anyway, and it's not going to get much better before November.

So, they get behind their sandbags and stay there the next six months.

2. Actually, there has been a decrease in US and allied casualties
http://lunaville.org/warcasualties/Summary.aspx

However, whether that is because the troops have been kept back out of harm's way, because the war has shifted to Iraqi civil targets or some other change, I don't know.

3. DoD is still issuing releases
The media is apparently too preoccupied with the Jesus movie and other useless information, to report on them. Here's a link to the releases http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/

4. I noticed starting about 1 wk ago and asked your question

in a post.

I think they are hiding deaths.

counting up, there could be 1000 dead by Nov. and this blackout of the news seemed to start after conversation started about 1000 by Nov.

7. They're putting the onus on Iraqi Police
Saw a report this week where they're using the Iraqi Police (though they're not up to the task yet in training and equipment) and keeping the troops basically behind walls and sandbags. They're also pulling troops out of Baghdad to bases.

I think they're going to hunker down except for conducting night raids. You know orders are coming from the WH to minimize casualties. In fact I heard last night that 12 were killed in Feb, vs. 30+ in Jan.

Meanwhile in just last few weeks I believe the Iraqi police have suffered over 300 casualties, and we know the civilians are suffering large numbers of dead and injured.
