"Kick their a$$ and take their gas" crowd confused...
http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2004-03-05-gas-prices_x.htm

The government amplified concern Thursday about rising gasoline prices and repeated a warning of possible shortages, but it didn't offer relief for either.

"This administration is extremely concerned" about the near-record gas prices, Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham said, strengthening a department statement a day earlier that said "spikes in gasoline prices are always of concern."

Separately, the head of the department's Energy Information Administration, Guy Caruso, told a Senate panel that "many signs are pointing to a tight gasoline market this driving season," repeating the caution about possible shortages from a recent EIA analysis.

Nationwide average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gas is $1.709, motorists' club AAA reported Thursday. The record was $1.737 Aug. 30 of last year.

California hit a statewide record of $2.178, AAA said, 0.1 cent higher than its previous record set last March 21. Six states were less than a penny from their highs Thursday...

1. Morons betrayed usually ARE confused
That's why they're morons
That's why they are so easily betrayed
Which is in turn why it is so easy to get them to betray themselves for the Busheviks...

2. Why don't they
step back, take a deep breath, and focus on just all the shit their leader has gotten them into?

7. Goebbels v2.0 has purposefully erased their critical thinking capacities
Which was also the purpose of the original Goebbels v1.0 Propaganda Progam.

(though I'm sure it's just a coinkydink)

3. Inaccurate. I've seen $2.29 in SoCal, and it's been $2.42 elsewhere in CA.
NT!

4. It's an average.
Read the paragraph before the CA stats for context.

18. Hmmm. It's a bit unclear, but you're probably right about that.
"California hit a statewide record of $2.178" - when I read 'record', I thought it referred to the single highest price paid in the whole state, which is why it seemed off.

Even an average like that is painful, though, and I'm sure it'll get even more painful!

10. I'm in Silicon Valley, where we are paying between $2.21-$2.43
depending on the area. Pretty ugly.

6. Heard gas-price talk down South, but no Bush connection --
in contrast to Jimmy Carter in the Seventies. If you get your news from Fox, as some of the people I talked to do, Bush is a perennial victim of circumstances.

Der Fuhrer could do no wrong.

(though I am sure that's just a coincidence, too)

9. Where's the oil?
Or where's the gas since we invaded Iraq? I thought the big oil companies would at least share their conquest of Iraq...I guess they must be selling it to Russia or third world nations for ridiculous prices. Or Haliburton is saving it up to squeeze us to higher costs.

At any rate, I think they are hording their oil winnings from Bush.

13. Heard on the news today that OPEC is going to cut production..
by a large percentage. Good thing we have Venezuela to pick up the difference, huh? Oh! You say we are trying to overthrow the Venezuelan government? Hmmmmmm....then what happens? Can we get George to invite Mexico's Fox down to the ranch in Crawford and maybe help alleviate the oil problem? Oh! That happened today, did it? There is nothing to piss people off more just near election than to have to wait in line for gasoline...Dubya knows that.

14. am I the only one who thinx they're pulling something?
like gouging now, setting the table for a miraculous effort by the chimp to negotiate/jawbone the prices back down to
'reasonable' levels by, say, oh.......October?

btw, heard on the radio today that gas is above three bucks a gallon in California (certain areas)

19. This Is Baaad News For Bunnypants
The hefty rise in gas prices will do two things. Kill a lot of travel...airplane fares are sure to rise again and keep the tourist industry depressed this summer (unless prices drop like a rock around July 4th)

The real bad is the long-term reprocussions of a sharp rise. Everything that travels does up in price, too...food, TVs, widgets...more money out of people's pockets. Then to make up for the money that's gone, some will raise their prices on rent or cut production or lay off employees.

I point to the real start of the Bush Recession (which is what it is) to the oil price manipulations price to the 2000 election...designed to mess up the economy on Gore, but ended up almost backfiring on RoveCo. instead.

Right now I see this regime doing the same stupid thing BushI did...ignoring economic reality. Listen to this cabal and you hear similar things to then...such as the recession is over, things are better...blah, blah, blah.

Seems the tactic here is to talk the economy healthy. Damn thing is this regime is so good at lying and manipulation, they could get away with it.

20. I just have a hunch
that chimpy's oil buddies might bring the price down after the summer vacation season. Drop the prices after Labor Day so there's two months before the election for the rabble to enjoy cheaper gas. Sounds like a September suprise to me. Let chimpy look like he caused the price drop. Blame the price hikes on Dems.
