More Republicans considering ditching Bush
My son just drew my attention to this thread at the role-playing game forum where he hangs out (on their "Tangency" board -- the equivalent of the Lounge here):

http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=107556

Some typical quotes:

"We all stopped in stunned silence when we all confessed we were considering voting against Bush."

"My roommate who thinks Reagan is nigh unto a god is looking at 'W' and saying 'this guy scares me'."

"Kerry better be good... Cuz if he isn't, I am going to hunt down all the liberals/Demos who convinced me that Bush is a steaming pile of shit and beat you up!"

"My Mom and I (the only two real Republicans in the family), have largely been avoiding the topic. I don't think either wants the other to know, but we probably are both going to vote not-Bush."

"Just the other day, I found out my mother-in-law voted in the the Democratic primary election. That floored me because my m-o-l was always an old-fashioned, conservative, God-fearing, Bush-loving, die-hard Republican. I asked why the heck she was voting in the Democratic primary if she was voting Republican in the election in Novemeber. She said that she wants Bush out and is willing to vote for a Democrat to accomplish that."

3. In the same category ..
I visit a MB which is pretty evenly split . 4 people have crossed over to Kerry because of Howard Stern! Heres a unexpected benefit from the fascism of Clear Channel. Woo hoo

6. Fabulous.
Howard Stern was never my personal cup of tea; however, what's happening to him now is pure B.S. - election-year politics at its lowest ('course you guys are probably going to tell me I haven't seen lowest yet -- and you're probably right).

7. My Dad is. If Kerry would kill the deficits by reigning in spending
instead of raising taxes, he'd vote for him in a second. As it is now, he probably won't vote.

8. Confession time....
I will admit that I grew up in a Democratic household and actually grew more conservative as I got older.

I regret that I voted for the Shrub (because I am a Christian and didn't feel accepted by the Dems for that) in 2000 but I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

And I should have known better because I am a woman of color....trying the "Trojan Horse" technique with Republicans DOESN'T WORK! I've BEEN THERE!!! They could CARE LESS about minorities and gays. (Just look at some of the comments at Lucianne.com sometime, if you want proof.)

I have a cousin in Iraq right now....I am PISSED about the hypocritical way Haitian refugees are being treated....I have had enough of the racism of the Republican party.

So I hope you can forgive me, brothers and sisters, and welcome me back. :-)

18. We need you
and Christians are definitely welcomed.

Some of us who are not religious can sound callous at times, but the only Christians I have a hard time with are the extreme rightwing fundamentalist who seem to have such hate in their hearts

My mother is a Christian and I admire her more than anyone else in the world. She accepts everyone for what they are and loves them for it. She is what I consider a "true" Christian - always with love and tolerance.

I think Jesus was a liberal.

We welcome you and need you in the Democratic party. The repubs are truly a party of racism. I am a Caucasion so many Repubs have let their guard down with me - showing the racist within.

I know few Republicans who are not racist, but they will not admit it.

My sister-in-law, a Repub, says she is not racist, but refused to buy her dream house because the couple who lived there was interracial. My s-o-l says, "How could I take a shower knowing she (the African American woman who lived there) has used it.

Oh, but she is a Republican and Republicans are not racist! </sarcasm>

11. Tell Missouri
On CNN a poll in the Show Me State are in favor of Bush 50 to 36 over Kerry. I think this is going to be sickeningly close.

"What a Fool Believes" should be the theme song of non-millionaire Bush backers.

16. Don'tbelieve everything you read
The moron* is very much hated here, we've suffered a great deal, and many many people have buyers remorse. It's very hard to not gloat and say I told you so.
