interesting theory re: kenny boy lay and martha stewart

a coworker of mine was just commenting on the martha stewart convictions and how ridiculous it is that they went after her and not kenny boy. i asked him if he thought they would ever go after kenny boy and he said probably not because he's got too much dirt on cheney. he feels that because kenny boy was in on the secret energy meetings he probably has the goods on dirty dick (possibly dealing with the taliban, etc) and if convicted he would spill the beans.

interesting angle. i must admit, i never thought of this one but it sure seems possible.

I think the pressure is now being turned up on Kenny Boy thanks to Martha.

Having served on a jury and listening to some of the post verdict jurer interviews, I think they carefully weighed the law here and saw an obvious attempt by Stewart to dump the stock. Democrat or Repugnican, this is illegal and she deserves to go to jail.

Yes, Martha's small change compared to the years of manipulation and overt deception and fraud by Lay, Skilling and the Enron cabal. And, yes, I think this is too close to home for this regime, that has attempted to distance itself personally and shield them legally and privately. The stonewalling in Enron is incredible...it's been three years since this mess began and Lay still hasn't been served with even a parking ticket. Skilling won't go to trial before the election and except for Lou Dobbs no one else is really paying attention.

What a lot of Democrats fail to understand about the Repugnican game plan is their ability to believe a lie and turn on a dime to do so. Find a "true believer" who will say they weren't in favor of "nation building"...and so on. To them any attack on Chenney now...legal or not, is partisan. This muddies the water so that there is no appetite by prosecutors to push ahead with any investigation or prosecution during an election year. Thus any attempts to stick Chenney with anything won't play and the media will shoot it down as being partisan (no surprise there).

The one hope is there's an indictiment in the Plame case or a criminal indictiment regarding Haliburton or KBR. Maybe that could happen exposing Chenney and this regime in a way I don't think they're expecting. In the meantime, they'll lie, deny and rewrite their own history.

You are right of course.. kennyBoy will get a slap on the wrist.. Mostly because his dealings are multi-layered, and complex..

Martha's was very cut and dried, and she was an easy target..so they nailed her..

I cannot believe that she spoke to them withour contacting her lawyer first..

Someone in her position should have known better.. She was convicted for her foolhardiness..

Kenny knows waaayyy too much for anyone to go after him. Hell, Baxter commited "suicide" after hiring bodyguards and just before he was to be the star witness and nothing is done to investigate.
