Raise your hand if you're undecided on a candidate.
I'm not committed, are you?

Why? Two reasons. No candidate has truly inspired me, sorry, but that's the truth. It's TOO EARLY for most people to put all of their hypothetical eggs in ONE basket.

Comments?

PS~ I have "favorites" but I'm not willing to take that additional step.

I'll vote for whatever Dem takes the nomination, but I'm hoping it's not Lieberman or Gephardt. If Wesley Clark runs,I'll add him to my group of 'possibilities' too,but this early in the game it's just really hard to tell if you're looking at a winning candidate,or a Dukakis/McGovern kind of candidate. I'm still waiting to see that spark.

on edit..when I reread my post and yours..I realized I had just rephrased what you had said. I really wasn't intentionally plagarizing!

10. don't you think throwing your support...
behined who you believe in now would do alota good in getting the candidate you want in '04?

And even if they don't get it you can still vote with whomever get the nod?

2. It is too early.
I want to see some debates and get a chance to bone-up on where these folks stand on the issues important to me. I think Dean and Kerry probably have the best chance to beat Fuckface but I seem to agree most with Kucinich.

20. Me too
Haven't settled yet but the more I hear from Graham the further I swing that way. He came to my town last week and spent the whole day here. I can't remember any candidate ever doing that in the past. If they come here at all it's usually for a 10 minute photo-op. Of course it doesn't hurt that one of his campaign organizers is from here and he's the one that helped get Mark Warner elected by bringing in the rural voters.

5. I'm not committed
I'm waiting to see the campaigning over the long haul. All the candidates have strong points and weak points. I'm waiting to see the kind of campaigns they run and whether some of them can really grab hold of alot of people. There's so much that can happen, they'll have to be able to prove their metal and ability to respond appropriately to all kinds of situations.

6. A hand up here
I've mentioned this in serveral posts. I don't mind DU'ers commitment to various candidates. In a Democratic primary I'm undecided.

My #1 concern is the abilty to beat Bush.

8. I raise my hand
:hi:

I like some of the candidates.
Dean-- I like that he takes the fight to the Republicans.
Kucinich-- I find him to be a good solid liberal.
Gephardt-- I like his economic policy ideas, but I'm a little bothered by the Iraq vote.

Basically I can vote for any candidate who will end the war and promote a more leftist economic policy than we have seen in the last 20 years.

I am vehemently against ABB pledges. It sends the message that you don't care if the party pays any attention to you or not. Even if you are going to vote ABB it would be wise to play it a little closer to the vest, at least for the primary season.

I look at the Democratic field with interest, but I cannot possibly fully evaluate the candidates until I know who the Greens nominate. I am still not ruling out voting Dem despite (not because of) the anonymous haranguing I get here on DU.

21. uncommitted and mad as hell
Those who choose to get behind a candidate this early are committing no error, that is their own decision. I will wait and listen to everything all of them have to say. I expect that ,as candidates enter or drop out, the platform will become more obvious and, until the convention is upon us I expect to make no decision, including whether to vote for a democrat or a thrid party candidate!

Right now, I do like Howard Dean. And I am very interested in having Wesley Clark enter the race. But over the past few weeks, I've become more interested in Bob Graham and Jonh Kerry. I simply need to learn more about them, in addition to most of the other candidates.

24. I have preferences but no favorites
I certainly don't have a candidate I want to work at getting elected yet (other than in the generic (D) sense). Like many here, I'd vote for any of them and look forward to the internecine debates. Personally, I think Carl Levin would be a great President, but I'm just as happy with him remaining Michigan's senior Senator, rather than declaring and letting the national Dems screw yet another campaign up.
John
Been doing this since 1976 (Carter). I'll wait to see how it shakes out, thanks.

25. anybody but bush

(though I am disgusted with recent Lieberman spew)

but, expending HUGE amounts of energy for this or that candidate right now is not as important as weakening * and his insane cabal (imho).

if the dem candidate is unable to SHOW that *'s 'base' is being LIED to and exploited (from their donations to their sons & daughters) to perpetuate the bush family's endless war for private profit, well, it won't really matter who it is...

Seriously, I haven't made a decision yet on which candidate I would support, come hell or high water. I want to wade through some more material on several of them, for starters.

And come what may, I will never support Nader or Bush (God forbid), so it's going to be a Democrat. End of story. Whoever gets the Democratic nomination is going to have my support.

29. used to back Kerry, now undecided
I used to be a Kerry supporter, but am now in the undecided column. It's early, but I think he's run a lackluster campaign so far, and I want someone who is more aggressive. I still like him, but have backed off supporting him above the others at this point.

I like Graham a lot. I still like Kerry. I am impressed with Dean's guts and am studying his stand on the issues. I'm waiting for Clark to get in or stay out, but I like what I've heard so far. Lieberman is out. Edwards strikes me as a lightweight. I don't think Kucinich, Moseley-Braun, or Sharpton are qualified. I would consider Gore or Hillary if they got in but don't expect them too.

Graham, Clark, Kerry, Dean, these are the ones I'm looking at now.

33. Me, and I'm thinking there are some potentially interesting match-ups
for president and vice president. I would like to see Kerry, Dean, Clark, Edwards and Graham all show a lot of fight and fire and then lay aside egos and figure out what combination will win. If it's a north/south combo or even if it has to be a south/south combo, I hope they get the match-up that will win it and then fight like hell.

I think they will win. If two of these guys can't beat the Bush/Cheney team after all the undemocratic stuff they have pulled, then it must mean that the American people truly don't want democracy. But I think the media is the only thing propping them up, so the Democratic candidate will win, even though the media will try to tell us otherwise.

35. It's still pretty early
I don't think that anyone's campaign has really defined who they are and how well they would do in the general election against Bush.

I think that Clark (if he runs) might have the best chance of anyone because he would easily counter Bush's home security stance. That's all that Bush can run on. I like Dean's fire and ability to inspire people (as evidenced by his internet fundraising). I like many of Kucinich's ideas, but not all. I'm afraid he might be a little too far left for the general population. Would he be able to pull moderate Republicans over from the dark side? Kerry looks presidential and distinguished, but is he too polite to get down in the gutter and fight it out with Bush?

Right now, I like the fact that there are a lot of people running. We will get more airtime to fight Bush with more people. If Bush can be attacked from different sides and directions that would be a beautiful thing. At least until the Democratic candidates start to sling mud at one another. It would be nice if they all made a pact to not attack anyone but Bush.

Let's hope that someone who we all can support starts to make some headway. Like I said, it's still pretty early.
