House seats up for grabs are just as important in '04
I don't hear enough talk on these boards about the House and Senate seats that will be up for grabs in '04. The White House spot itself can tend to be a little overrated. If we can win a majority back in the Senate and at least gain some ground in the House, we will have developed more of a check on the right-wing White House. The margin of Republicans to Dems in the House is getting out of hand. It's getting to the point where the Dems are in such a minority that they can't introduce alternate bills etc. I wish we all had as much enthusiasm about the potential Dem candidates who could unseat Republicans in '04 as we do about Dean.

1. Sad to say but it seems that there has been a lack of mentoring in
the first place.
Things are bad when senior Democrats want to retire and can't because they don't have anybody suitable to replace them.

2. Given the brilliance of the Dean campaign...
I would be very suprised if they don't start linking to democratic house and senate candidates in a way we didn't in 2000.

Whoever get the nod in 2004 should make a point of working with dems running for congress - we'll need a majority to roll back the tax cuts - just for a start.

Once the campaign really gets underway I think there will be plenty of enthusiasm for the "bottom" of the ticket, which will help at the top.

and vice-versa.

3. Any seats up for grabs that you care about?
Here in WA-1, if Inslee runs for Governor, we'll probably take the loss.
