HEre is a rendering of the way they are marking the dead count. Read the whole article. it will make your blood boil:

551 the wrong figure for Bush Iraqi body count. This says we've really lost 1188

Got this at bartcop: http://joevialls.altermedia.info/yourson.html

Excerpt: <The comments under the picture are I believe translations of the arabic commentary under the pictures of the dead American soldiers depicted in a broadcast. I hope their families never see this>

"If a soldier is completely dismembered by a bomb, then he is dead. Likewise, if a soldier is hit by a full burst of machine-gun fire, then he also is dead. The problems start when the medic is not quite sure whether the injured soldier is dead or not. We all like to save life if possible, so if the medic believes there is the faintest glimmer of hope, the injured soldier is sent immediately to the nearest aid station."

"The split-second that soldier is removed from contact , he is officially listed as 'wounded', regardless of whether he then dies 3 seconds or minutes or hours or days or months later, as a direct result of injuries sustained in the contact. Deaths in transit to the U.S., or after soldiers return home are also excluded completely, or become 'accidental deaths'. This is how Wolfowitz and his people massage the figures, and how the American public is misled."

Perhaps an other source, I've always suspected this was fishy since your not considered dead KIA unless you die in Iraq?

10. A relative at the German air base...
who unloads the "tubes" said during a Thanksgiving visit that the body count was "significantly" higher than is what is being reported. And that was months ago.

Something else he said at the time eventually came out in the media (charter commercial airliners gassing up in Germany and bringing fuel into Iraq), so I believe what he said about the body count.

13. It's basic math. However, the base for the math is corrupted too.
NYT says between 10,000 - 14,000 soldiers have been injured so far in Iraq. DOD numbers are around 3,330. Yes, more scandals!

The DOD is saying the death rate for injured is much lower in this war than in any other war because of the great medical advances. The percentage for Iraq invasion is 6%. So take 6% of the number wounded and add that to the official number.

Another thing - remember the newsman/photographer who was shot taking pictures outside a US base last year? They said his camera was mistaken for a gun. The story he was working on was the mass graves of US service men and women. Another rumor is only American citizens killed are counted. With 20% of the armed forces being foreigners promised citizenship if they serve, there could be a whole lot more US soldiers killed than anyone knows.

17. One way to corroberate this would be to check the list of deaths
for folks who have died in a hospital after sustaining wounds on the battlefield. You know there are lots of folks who have, but if you can't find any on the list then they aren't being counted.

22. heard it first from my friend's son
who is now stationed in iraq. last year, he couldn't believe we were protesting against the war in iraq. he just got sent over there in january/feb to help train the new iraqi army. one of the first things he told us was that he no longer supported the war because of what he had seen & that the body count was wrong. if a soldier is wounded & transported out, he/she is listed as "wounded," even if they later die of their injuries. the only ones listed as "dead" are the ones who die instantly or before they can be transported out.

and why is it that bush can go to his dog's funeral, but not a soldier's?

7. I have believed all along the number has been corrupted
I brought this question up before because the count is based on those killed in combat not those who die later from their wounds.

15. I mean no disrespect, but I don't believe it.
Both http://lunaville.org and http://pigstye.net/iraq have been tracking casualties daily. There are names of men and women who have died in Kuwaiti, British, German, and American hospitals after being evacuated from Iraq. It is a credit to medical personnel that so many who have received care have survived.

PLUS - The families would notice if their loved one was not on the DoD website.

24. I did a quick spot check of both sites and did not find ANY mention of...
...Americans dying of their wounds AFTER being transported to a hospital. In fact, all of the headlines and casualty notices that I read stated only that the individuals had died in Iraq.

Where did you find the information on deaths in hospitals?

25. Here's the first one I found. Pfc Luis Moreno, 19 years old from NY.

"Moreno died on Jan. 29, 2004, at the Lakenheath Medical Treatment Facility, United Kingdom. Moreno was shot on Jan. 23 while he was guarding a gas station in Baghdad, Iraq. He later died of his injuries."

Here's another: Sgt. Ryan Young of Corona, California. He was 21.

"Young died on Dec. 2 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., of wounds he received Nov. 8 in Fallujah, Iraq. Young died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle."

16. This is what was done during Vietnam
Read "Friendly Fire", it's the story of an Iowa family who became suspicious of the body counts when they found out their son, Michael Mullen (maybe Mullin) was not counted as a battle casualty because he was killed by "friendly fire". They started keeping track of how many Iowa soldiers were listed in the local papers as having died in Vietnam and began to realize that the counts being made public couldn't possibly match.

It's also the story of a middle American family (as I recall the mom was somewhat active in the Iowa Democratic party) and their move from the "Silent Majority" to anitwar activists. They lost friends, their phones were tapped, they went through a lot to try to get the word out and they didn't have the internet to help them.

30. Exactly...questionable source
Although I myself have suspected as much, one be be especially skeptical when one is being told what one wants to hear.

Are the Busheviks capable of this? Absolutely. They make one yearn for the honesty and integrity of Richard Nixon.

Does that make it true? I have caught some unnerving glimpses. I remember a peculiar story (just one flying by--no followups) a soldier was listed as an "accidentl death".

He died because his jeep crashed into a wall after taking enemy fire, causing the vehicle to swerve into the wall.

When I read it, I was stunned by the Orwellian audacity, as well as the disrespect, of reclassifying that death as "accidental".

But I'd like to see some corroboration.

28. Some interesting stuff in that article
"Ever since 1991, Iraq has known that America intended to invade one day, and thus had plenty of time to make elaborate preparations."

= = =

"Think about the numbers. For every 2.2 inexperienced American infantrymen exposed in full view across the length and breadth of Iraq, there is one carefully hidden and highly trained Iraqi equivalent of a Fort Bragg Green Beret."

= = =

"85% of Iraq is still effectively controlled by the Republican Guard."

= = =

"America has more weapons of mass destruction than any other nation on earth."

= = =

"In order to placate an increasingly hostile and potentially very dangerous 'West Point' patriotic mindset inside its military structure, America's Zionist minions in Washington are sending inexperienced bank managers, store clerks and the unemployed to replace experienced full-time line troops in Iraq, who themselves are currently facing more than 50,000 incredibly dangerous Spetsnaz-trained Iraqi Special Forces."

29. This statement should be read by all Americans.
The Sept. 11 panel, formally known as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, has issued three subpoenas for documents since last fall and twice threatened to do the same for presidential briefing records prepared by the CIA and held by the White House.

In the latter cases, the panel reached a compromise, allowing a limited number of representatives to review the briefings and prepare a 17-page summary for the rest of the commission that was edited by the White House.

So the death of 3000 is a joke to the Bushco after all. George W. Bush - a man of politics over people.
