Stern rips Bush's ads - link to MP3 - 3 megs - can somebody mirror?
Edited on Mon Mar-08-04 10:56 PM by scottxyz
During Robin's news segment this morning on Howard Stern they of course have a good time ripping apart Bush's pathetic campaign ads - where he tries to look brave by "hanging out with a bunch of brave people".

There's a good audio clip (about 4 minutes long - 3 megs) here:

http://www.horkulated.com/article.php?story=20040306161451703
(RIGHT-click and do "Save..." to save to your hard drive and listen later.)

It's probably the RUDEST criticism of Bush anywhere in the mainstream (audio) media in the past few years. Very good to play for friends who don't like to read their news.

Howard points out that Bush was a coward on 9/11, that he airlifted out the Bin Laden family on 9/12, that he's using code words like "faith" in his ads to slip in religious messages, that he's scapegoating gays, etc. Of course Howard says it in his own inimitable way which reaches a much wider audience than dry political analysis.

Someone else in DU today is asking if Howard is the left's "Rush". Well yes and no. They're both rude and vulgar in an attempt to speak to the "average guy" but Howard usually "speaks truth to power" whereas Rush usually "speaks lies to the powerless".

Rush is an cog reading a script for the Mighty Wurlitzer and Howard is his own man speaking his mind. So don't let the rudeness fool you - they're different.

Mirroring?
If too many people download from that site at once, it could get slow.

So if someone could mirror it elsewhere, that would be cool. Or put it in your Kazaa, eMule, MX, Morpheus etc "shared" folder so people on the peer-to-peer networks can get at it.

2. Excellent To Hear The Bush Ads Parodied So Well
A lot of sheeple listen to Howard Stern.

They will follow their leader, Stern, not Bush.

This is good news for the dems.

3. was it from today? I listened to the whole show today
as I always do when I don't have class during it.

3 megs is alot for just 4 minutes, Howards show shouldn't require a big bitrate. Alot of files on Kazaa of him are like 20 minutes long with similar meg sizes

7. Here's some excerpts from transcript
Thanks for all the mirrors!

For those who can't / don't want to download, here's some quick excerpts from the MP3:

= = =

Howard - I just remember Bush rushing Bin Laden's family out of the country so they wouldn't get hurt.

Robin - What was THAT about?

= = =

(cue soft piano music)

Howard (announcer's voice) - "George Bush hates fags. George Bush thinks if a fag gets married, it's gonna ruin your life, it's gonna impact you, really really {bad}..."

Robin - "Your marriage won't mean anything."

Howard - Yeah, "Your marriage is a joke if those fags get married."

(Robin laughing, piano track crescendo...)

= = =

(cue soft piano music)

Howard (announcer's voice) - "George Bush hasn't done cocaine for a long, long time. And hasn't crashed his car into bushes, and drove drunk, for a REALLY long time."

Robin - "The President stopped partying, at 40."

Howard - "..and found Jesus." The President had, like, tons of fun for 40 years and then found Jesus and decided to clean up his act...

Howard - "We are CREEP - Committee to Re-Elect the President."

Robin (laughter)

8. That's the thing I like about Stern...
...he's not really partisan, he's largely without an axe to grind. He has opinions all over the spectrum, so there are a lot of times I disagree with him, but apparently, he can grow too, and admit when he's wrong. For instance, he used to applaud Shrub's war on terror, now he's SLAMMING him consistently (mostly because he sees him being controlled by the religious right on the whole gay marriage issue, something he bravely stands up for CONSISTANTLY). How coincidental that the moment he turns on Bush, he's YANKED off 6 markets by Clear Channel. Scary, really...

9. I got almost unlimited bandwidth - mirror here (smaller file too)

I got it down to 1.2 megs with little noticeable loss in quality. It's mono now, for example, which doesn't matter much since it's mostly speech. Enjoy - it's really quite funny.

I also linked to it right off my home page for those who can't handle these long URLs - http://cronus.com

:)

12. Go to his e-mail page and cheer him on!
Also, send him links to any Web sites or stories or books you think he should be aware of! Go to http://www.krockradio.com/feedback and select "The Howard Stern Show" from the dropdown box. Who knows, he might decide to take a call from Mike Malloy!

13. LOL!
I've always loved Stern. "Can you imagine what they would do to me if I used 9/11 footage to prop my show in ads?" That was really some classic radio you captured. Thank you, I needed a good laugh.

14. alt.binaries.howard-stern
If you know how to download newsgroups in your browser, you can get all of Howard's show at the above newsgroup.

alt.binaries.howard-stern

I'm not too good at newsgroups, and I don't have broadband, so I didn't manage to get it to work.

If someone could download a few choice audioclips from alt.binaries.howard-stern, and then mirror them someplace - that would be really cool.

Especially for the people in those cities where Clear Channel is censoring our airwaves for political reasons!

This is a perfect hands-on example of how the Internet can help us fight back against oppressive corporations like Clear Channel.
