We lived through the Great Depression and World War II and are enraged that you even compare Franklin Roosevelt's leadership with that of George W. Bush ("Matter of Record," Editorial, Saturday). How dare you?
Can you kindly define Bush's leadership? I certainly can:
Osama bin Laden is still at large. There are terrorists flooding into Iraq and probably this country. Sending the United States into that miserable war in Iraq without real international support, costing lives of more than 500 of our soldiers and billions of precious tax dollars we need at home.
Worst of all, what hypocrisy for your paper to defend this president when you have been protesting his terrible, free-spending policy that has taken us into incredible debt for years to come. Barry Goldwater must be turning over in his grave; he was a true patriot and conservative. Not so this president.
You are wrong. He certainly has no right whatsoever to use images from Sept. 11, 2001, in his political ads.
