Democratic vs. Republican Conventions
Why are Democratic conventions always in heavily Democratic places (LA, Chicago, Boston) while Republicans always take chances to gain votes in more Dem areas (Philadelphia, NYC.) Why can't we do this? The last time we did this was 1988, I think, in Atlanta. But even then there were no elected Republicans in Georgia. So what are the reasons for this, and how does the bidding process work?

1. Cities are heavily democratic.
Do they want to have a convention in some field in Kansas?
