I was listening to Democracy Now! this a.m. featuring a fascinating interview with Laura Flanders, host of "Your Call" and the author of "Bush Women - Tales of a Cynical Species" - detailing the rise to power of Karen Hughes, Lynne Cheney, Condoleeza Rice, et al. Will be listening here in L.A. at 9 a.m. I also found Ms. Flanders totally fascinating. I had never thought of it in quite that way -- that Bush is surrounding himself with an "estrogen field" of women who do not get grilled the way men do -- she was talking about the first significant Bush Chick Katherine Harris and how most articles about her focused on the huge controversy--of her MAKEUP.
