Again, a diversity of reasons. I'd like to get a feel for the major categories.

1. my grandmother

she voted for Bush in 2000 and hates him now because of how he fucked up so badly in Iraq. When I was down at her place during Thanksgiving she was complaining about how he had no clue what he was doing when he started his little adventure.

2. The economy.

A friend at work who has had a Bush poster in his office now laughs about it and has taken it down. He still holds Bush's 9-11 performance in high regard, but is disgusted with the economy, outsourcing, fuel prices. He thinks Bush has given lousy / lame answers during his interviews with the press on any of the hard questions.

His big issue previously was a strong defense.

3. I am a former Bush supporter

who was going to vote Dean in the Ohio Primary

But alas, he faded away. Mainly ,Im voting against bush for one reason. Because of his wonderful economic policies I now have a manufacturing job at McDonalds.

a staunch Repug, said the "gay marriage" amendment is what pushed him away from * -- he thinks the "Constitution is too important to mess around with, over this issue." (I secretly think it was Howard Stern's defection that did it, but hey, I'll take 'em any way I can get 'em).

The B-I-L has a lot of buddies who think alike about politics, so maybe he can lead some more down the path of righteousness. ;-)

4. Relative... who works in building trades/industrial

work all but dried up through much of 03... when it picked up again - was all from public sector work where the $s had long been budgeted. Pretty disgusted with the bush economic policies. Have to qualify that I think he voted for bush... may have voted for Buchanon. Grows more and more likely to vote D even if an I-Party person like Buchanon was to run.

7. I have a couple of coworkers who voted for bush in 2000

and will not vote for him again because of Iraq. Both have sons of draft age.

Bush broke his campaign promises. I can't think of a single one he's kept - except maybe for making the "pie higher".

11. Two friends of mine......

Voted for Bush mostly because they disagreed with Gore on one issue or the other, and fell for the "no difference" line with everything else.

One voted for Bush because he didn't like affirmative action (which Gore was for).

One voted for Bush because he liked the "no nation building" stance (yeah, that one is rich in't it?).

Both are planning on voting for any dem who is nominated (obviously we know who that will be.

13. Because of Iraq

My mom was a Bush supporter and isn't exactly a deep thinker when it comes to politics, but she is quite upset about our presence in Iraq. She said that Bush has gotten us into a mess and she is very unhappy about the loss of American lives there. I still don't know how she will vote this year, but I was surprised to hear her even criticize Shrub.

has now done a complete about face and knows that Bush MUST go. Also, a very good friend's dad who's a retired surgeon is disgusted with what he's done to the economy....the even better news is that both are native, never lived anywhere else Texans! What a dream to have * loose Texas.

25. Two more from Texas

One is an ex-marine, motorcycle-riding buddy of my husband. Very nice guy - Sunday school teacher, Boy Scout leader, etc, and has always voted Republican. He wanted Clark, but will vote ABB this year.

The other is a friend of ours who actually worked for the Republican party. He knows them all and cannot believe what they've done to our country. He's a Navy veteran and also a very nice guy who is appalled at how Bush & Co. have abandoned not only conservative traditions, but also plain old American standards.

This friend also leaned toward Clark, but will vote ABB, and even took a mutual friend who has a Faux News coffee mug to lunch to try to talk her out of a Bush vote.

Yes, neither likes abortion or "tax and spend democrats" but they see their country being destroyed by Bush and Rove.

I'd classify them both as Kevin Phillips Republicans, or what we used to call "cloth coat" Republicans.

The significance of these guys being ABB? Not only are they both veterans as well as native Texans, but they are both WHITE MALES, the group Bush thinks is solid for him!

16. A friend voted for bush

I hung up on her after yelling at her when she told me .

A couple months later she called asking if I hated her .

I said no , but I am going to say "you made a terrible mistake
voting for bush and you need to watch out for abortion
becoming illegal, and Evironmental protections being
rolled back , unions losing power , education getting
defunded , and war for profit . "

she said "I don't believe you" I said "that's fine
as long you promise me to keep informed and a watchful
eye on these things , I can forgive you."

I started sending her email when she raised questions
about how the "selection" happened . She didn't like it .
So I became an alternative news source for her .

slowly overtime she has become a very anti-bush
calling for impeachment ..

1.) a friend who is a real estate high roller; likes the tax cuts, but he's gay. bush totally lost him with the gay marriage issue.

2.) another friend who works for schwab, where cnn plays all day, finally snapped because of the same issue. discrimination written INTO the constitution? no. time to draw the line. she's promised to vote dem in nov.

3. & 4.) both my sons-in-law would probably not have voted at all until howard stern ran afoul of the bushies. i just got both of them registered as dems.

TIM MUSGROVE, who lives on Gummer Avenue in Dayton, is a swing voter who voted for Bush in 2000, but backs Kerry this time around.

The bellwether East Dayton precinct at Huffman Avenue and Smithville Road has, among almost 600 Montgomery County precincts, most consistently mirrored Ohio's presidential voting patterns since 1992. And if exit interviews conducted during Tuesday's primary are any indication, some voters who went for Bush in 2000 are swinging away from the president.

Of 22 voters interviewed, seven who voted for Bush over former Vice President Al Gore say they now support or are leaning toward Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the presumed Democratic nominee. a life long republican is really disgusted with Bush. The main reason is that he went AWOL during his stint in the NG. during Vietnam. My friend is a Vietnam vet, with a Purple Heart. He voted for him in 2000 and didn't really know much about his NG stint. Now , when he mentions Bush, its with a few choice words before his name. I'm sure there are plenty of Veterans out there that feel the same. I'm a Veteran, also, but I've been a life lone democrat.

An attorney at work is upset at Ashcroft's attack on privacy and free speech rights. He is a life long Repub who vows he will not vote for Bush in 2004.

30. Because of gay stance and "Howard Stern"

She called me the day the amendment was endorsed to say she'd vote against Bush. The Stern thing makes her mad at Bush as well, which is interesting.

31. My Sister

She said she was really torn between Gore and Bush, but voted for Bush in 2000 because she thought our then-ailing mother would get better benefits under Medicare. She is now convinced Bush must go, based on his Dr. Jekyll-Mr. Hyde switch after the last election and the fact he can't tell the truth about anything.
