CONTEST: Ideas for Guerilla Warfare Against Bush

Contest? Not really. But this could be fun.

Some of you may have seen this handout http://www.tvnewslies.org/html/bush_failed_us_on_9_11.html
that www.tvnewslies.org is giving away. The hope is that anyone can print these up and hand them out.

I'm wondering if there are some other guerilla warfare tactics that can be used against to chip away at popular support for Bush.

Sure there's pamphlets and they have their place. I've also been wondering about stickers. Some printers are set up for printing mail labels and other types of stickers. Cheap business card sized cards could be left anywhere... seats on busses, pockets of new clothes in stores, on shelves in stores. The ideas could stand alone or point to a web site. You get the idea.

I'd like to see a collection of concise, and devastating messages that could be distributed on the web, printed up on any PC, then distributed locally. We could all be little Tom Paines!

Any ideas?

1. I LOVE this approach

I love the way simple images like this brings large abstract numbers down to earth. I'd like to see this idea distilled down otherwise it might get too expensive to print up such a brochure.

2. You ought to change that Subject Line

Make it clear you're talking about "guerrilla marketing".

AFAIK, it is still a felony to make threats against the life of the POTUS.

6. if I edit it......
If I edit it... it may seem that I somehow broke the law and tried to cover it up. I did not. I made no threats nor did I call for an armed uprising. I'll let the post stand. But thanks for your concern.

3. Something I've Been Doing
Think of this as you may:

I live in West Virginia - I am certain that the main reason Gore did not take this state was the perception of his stance on gun control.

The closest town has one sort of general store; grocery, hardware, furniture, and guns. When I step up to the counter I do it on the gun-shop side. I remind the mindless boy behind the counter that the Bu$h administration has put out a call for a national ID card. I then point out that with todays computer chips that card will be directly linked to the FBI center, which is down the road by about 40 miles and well known throughout the state. I tell them that Bu$h's ID card is the first step toward taking their guns. Want to know something? It rings their bell! Want to know something else? I honestly believe its true.

4. There is only 1 Digger
"Revolution for $3.50 is an impossibility. Revolution is Free because it is Yours"

"Are you a Male between the ages of 19 and 26? Does the idea of you and your buddies being drafted into the army appeal to you? Would you like to spend months in the deserets of Iran or Syria fending off gureilla attacks against your will? If so, Vote for George W. Bush."

"Four years of George W. Bush have proven that a rising tide doesn't necessarily raise all ships. Apparently when he's in charge it also sinks middle class and working class ships, while raising the yaughts of the rich."

Ok the first one was from the San Francisco Diggers--but the other two were mine.

5. I like the idea of billboards plastered with anti-Bush messages.
Maybe MoveOn.org should look into that since they're getting shafted by network TV.

Another idea--find a smooth sided wall or building and shine a slide projector generated image against it.

Third idea--when you pledge as a "day sponsor" to your local NPR (public radio) station, you can get a little message read over and over. Something like "Our day sponsor is XXXX XXXXXX, who is committed to re-defeating the current occupant of the White House and electing John Kerry in November."

Last idea--get a group of about 20-30 people and pass out anti-Bush, pro-Kerry literature at your local mall.

7. Chaos Witnessing, Culture Jamming, Guerilla Marketing -------
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 05:05 PM by anarchy1999
Question the construct.

Make the masses stop and question their construct of reality.

We pulled out the front edition of a newspaper in Austin and wrote across the top of it and then put it back in.

One line, one person at a time. Make everyone stop, look and listen.

Question self?

Proudest moment, I helped to turn a Diehard Republican upside down.

Thank you G. Palast and "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy".

9. Some of these flyers can be xeroxed and slipped into newspapers.
Next time you buy one at a newspaper box, have some flyers with you. Slip a few into the other papers in the pile.

Or do it at the Starbucks or wherever they have stacks of newspapers for sale and not a huge lot of supervision. Leave the flyers around at neighborhood shops.

LISTEN carefully at the checkout counter or wherever you shop/browse/visit. Whatever they're talking about, in terms of politics and complaining about stuff, try to fit in some choice, well-worded comment. Sometimes if I see a parked car with a good bumper sticker, I'll leave 'em a thank-you note.

Donate, if you can, to MoveOn.org or the Democratic Party or DU or TNOE's site or the Kerry campaign or The Progressive Portal or Bartcop or Buzzflash or SOMETHING. Every tiny bit is another drop slowly filling the cup.

11. Flyers slipped in worked in the best way, deep in the Heart of Texas.
Calimary,

You hit the nail on the head. One of best organizers our organization has was found because he and his wife picked up free newspaper that flyer had been slipped into for the Feb 15 March last year.

One person every day.

8. Here's Some Buttons, Bumper Stickers, etc.

We invite you to have a look at a small > website we set up for sales and information.
>
> http://911truthnow.com
>
> We also added links for downloads to print and hand-out, as well as some of > the best website links for research. More coming.

These buttons are being sold cheaply enough that they make a great
fundraiser for local efforts. You can buy the large 2.25" button online for 35-cents each, plus shipping. It can easily sell for $1 or $2 for a fundraiser. There are also 1.5" and 1.25" buttons available. We will be dding bumper stickers and rolls of stickers in the next few days.
>
For those of you doing demos in the upcoming months, remember that you
will be required by the cops to conceal your signs once you leave the demo ite--but BUTTONS ARE LEGAL so you carry the message everywhere you go.

10. Here's the strategy!
The guerrilla approach is all mapped out on TvNewsLies.org. The editor has tried to contact MoveOn.org, but has never had any success. If anyone knows a way to get through, please contact Jesse, at TVNL.

Meantime...here's the plan, the materials, and the approach:

(scroll down the entire page for the flyers to download)

And so much more.....
