2004 - 1988 comparisons laughable!!
That fucking hack Bill Schneider is always wrong...hahaha!! For one thing, in 1988, there was NO INCUMBENT!! People didn't know Bush Sr. then, but they sure as hell know Bush Jr. now. In addition, neither Clinton nor Reagan trailed their opponents after February of 1984 and 1996, while Chimpy is down in nearly all polls. Like Bush Sr. and Carter, Bush Jr.'s approval ratings are on a downward trajectory in his re-election year, which is unlike Reagan and Clinton who were on a clear upward trajectory.
Finally, John Kerry is no Dukakis, and has the Pubes scared shitless. We've got a real shot at this one.

1. I agree absolutely
All your points are on the money. Also, Dukakis' campaign never found a way to deal with Lee Atwater (Karl Rove's mentor) while Kerry's campaign clearly knows the importance of fighting back.

2. I love the line from Kerry's team member:
"If they want to play that way, then everything is on the table. Everything." Good. Take it to them. They play dirty and dig for trash. There's no need for us to dig: this administration is covered in stink and someone just has to have the guts to point it out.

3. I think the old 3rd party attack would work well
Would you vote for a president that LOST jobs during 4 years on the job? Then you better not vote for bush*!

Would you vote for a president that took month-long vacations during a state of "increased chatter" among terrorists? Then you better not vote for bush*!

And since you wouldn't vote for a president like THAT, THEN YOU BETTER VOTE FOR ME!!

And afterwards when the repukes get indignant, you can say, I was talking about a fictitious president, but I can't fault you if you associated the poor bastard with bush*.

4. Schneider is a Bushveik Loyalist and a liar
He has one job: To further the cause of his Imperial Masters.

His Masters (well, ok, a roster of some mid-level Imperial Bootlicking Lying Propagandists).
