Anyone else noticing.. Dr Howard Dean is EVERYWHERE!
The covers of Time and Newsweek this upcoming week, the cover of the Washington Post today, labelled the frontrunner all over on TV, in position to possibly win both Iowa and New Hampshire..

I mention this with one big note: the press is actually favorable towards him.

To be blunt, they treated Gore like absolute crap. And here they are now, raising-up Dr Dean. They detail about how he's 'conservative', about how he rips Bush to pieces, about how he's bringing new people into the process, about how he may be changing how campaigns are run permanently, about how his fundraising this quarter is already shaping-up to be really strong.. and on and on - they seem to be giving him just favor after favor after journalistic. They seem truly smitten, and I'm loving every moment of it!

I was excited about the campaign earlier, but when I saw the cover of Time.. just.. wow. I got chills. It's nice to remember what hope feels like.

1. too bad the DLC labels him as far-left liberal
I think that labeling goes beyond the DLC. Just because Dean was vehemently antiwar, he is labeled as extremist.

2. Here's a gem....
...from the Post article you mentioned:

"All of your progressive ideas, Dean told his party caucus, won't amount to anything if Vermonters don't trust you with their money - and they don't. We're seen as tax-happy liberals who spend money unwisely....

...when he left office in 2002, Vermont had a fairly balanced budget, while states across the nation bled fiscal red ink."

Go Dean!

3. I haven't noticed
And there is a danger of incorrect timing with this coverage.

4. It is not always good to be labeled the front runner
but then front runners usually go on to get the nomination such as Gore and Mondale. But anti-establishment candidates such as Dean don't usually get labeled the front runner until later in the process after they had proven their success electoally such as Carter and McGovern. This is a mixed blessing for Dean.

6. Yesterday and Today, he's in Nashua, NH.
He was at a house party yesterday where the turnout was probably
several hundred, many of them "undecideds" whom I knew personally.
But he delivered a variation on his usual "red meat" speech and the
crowd sure seemed to like it! And my conversations afterwards with
some of the "undecideds" sounded very promising.

8. Honestly, I had the exact same reaction today....
I was going up the elevator to my office. I am a nursing supervisor and work 6p to 6a. I had picked up an obscure local newspaper, The Dayton Weekly, from the lounge. This paper directs most of it's articles to the African American Daytonians. I found on page 3, an article about the Pittsburgh Urban League Confrence that *scrub attended and the dems. There was several paragraphs emphasizing Howard Dean's speech and positive response from the crowd, mentioning the standing ovations.

Then, I reached my desk and there was an article placed there from a co-worker. It was a copy of an article from the July 03 Nursing Home Long Term Care Management by Michael J. Stoil. It was a complete two page interview with none other than...Howard Dean...

Amazing.....:bounce:
