Just to Reiterate: Have They Found Credible Evidence of a Weapons Program?
Wolf Blitzer said evidence of a weapons program has been found, but has it been credible? From what I've seen, it's been a piece here and a piece there, but nothing very major. And if it was major, why wouldn't people like Sean Hannity be throwing that out every single night?

2. Did we really develop it?
And I know there are some WMD there, but it seems to me that Bush overstated the case.

11. The U.S. developing it for Iraq is a stretch...
... but there is _plenty_ of evidence showing U.S. support for every program--from allowing Iraqi physicists to visit US nuclear weapons labs to equipment sales including biologicals capable of being weaponized. There are some very damning Commerce Dept. documents detailing what was allowed for Iraqi purchase from the U.S.

The business about programs is a red herring. If the Iraqis used chemical weapons in the past, they obviously had programs to develop and produce them. The UNSCOM and UNMOVIC inspectors have reams of data on this subject.

What is going on in the administration at this moment is a monumental effort to rewrite history (as they so often accuse others of doing), but the simple truth is, everything they've said publicly has been recorded. At some point, someone in high position is going to tire of their shenanigans and call them what they are--liars.

Cheers.

Keep it coming. I can't flame you, others will.

19. Even Clinton admitted it
There was something there. It seems, though, that the Bush administration didn't have as much knowledge as they wanted us to believe.

3. Folks we knew he had a weapons of mass destruction program
He used gas on the Iranians and the Kurds. That is not what is in dispute. What is in dispute is the statement that he had tons and tons of it ready to be dispersed and used at the time Bush gave the go on war.

Bush now wants to make the argument that Saddam had a program of weapons of mass destruction. That is much different than had the weapons. We do not need to argue he had a program, that is a fact.

We need to keep on point, where are the tons of WMD that you, Bush, told us were ready to be used.

7. Why is Wolf prepetuating the "programs" bull for bush?
We were told we must attack because he had WEAPONS - not a program, but WMDs.

bush said it, rummy said he knew where they were, and cheney said he had nuclear weapons.

Why the hell does the media help bush try to cover his rich, cowardly, traitorous a** over this fraudlulent war that has killed so many, including many of our own, by helping the regime save itself from its own lies?

20. Of course a "weapons program" has been found. Long ago.
But since we cannot find the actual weapons the credibility of the Chimpadministration is questionable.

21. several weeks ago, a huge cache of documents were found
which were given to a team headed by a former UN inspector. it looks like there is a lot of info there. he recently gave an interview in which he said he wasn't going to talk about what they had found until he and his team were finished. he did say the American people would be very surprised with what he found. he seemed pissed.

some people think he's pissed because he is finding nothing of note.
other people say he's pissed because now he knows just how thouroughly saddamn was screwing with the UN inspector teams.

he says it will me next year until he is done.

23. This particular "former UN inspector"
is David Kay, whose reputation for truthfulness is, umm, a subject for debate. He's a "former UN inspector" because he was removed from the UNSCOM team for less than ethical conduct. Many of the documents he cited (those accompanying the centrifuge parts), which have been reviewed by outsiders, suggest fundamental errors which would have greatly slowed down Iraq's nuclear fuel development program.

Anything David Kay says should be taken with less than a grain of salt. When he starts talking about loads of incriminating documents, that's the time to remember why he was with UNSCOM such a short time.

Cheers.

25. Invasion had nothing to do with WMD
Donald Rumsfeld ordered Pentagon planners to begin planning for an invasion of Iraq the afternoon of 9/11.

He is a member of a group called Project for a New American Century. Prior to Bush's appointment, they had called for US control of Iraq oil and claimed it would take a massive shock to the US population, something akin to Pearl Harbor, to get them to support such a policy. http://www.newamericancentury.org/
Members of PNAC include Wolfowitz, Pearle, and Jeb Bush and a handful of others holding key posts in the current junta.

Draw your own conclusions.

One of mine is that the wmd's are a red herring designed to distract attention from _______?______ (fill in the blank).

22. Can we help save millions of dollars????
Concede we know there was a weapons programs in the 80's and maybe even the 90's. If this is all they're trying to prove, can we get Howard Dean to tell the Administration to save America the millions of dollars proving something we already know? Can we get a petition to save the country this money?

If they can't prove weapons existed in 2003, stop wasting our tax dollars!!!

24. that interesting word "program" that was never present in Bushco's
proclamations of imminent threat before the war. The Imminent Thread WMDs morphed linguistically into a weapons "program" until weeks after the "end of major fighting" and NO sign of WMDs...(btw a "weapons program" alone would be even less up to the bar of pre-emptive strike, btw, especially since UN Weapons inspectors were on the ground - and they had the charge to disband "weapons programs" as they found them - BUT WE WERE TOLD (caps to emphasize the shrillness of the admin assertions) THEY COULD STRIKE US NOW... WE DON"T HAVE TIME FOR INSPECTIONS!!!!))

Your use of the phrase Weapons Programs... is very interesting. Indoctrinatrination? Acceptance of the Admin verbal sleight of hand? ???

26. Bingo
They turn the debate over their lie of "he has WMD" with the phrase "he had a WMD program." Hell we knew that several years ago. We saw his use of gas and toxins on the Iranians and Kurds.

But that was not what Bush used to justify the war. He and his henchmen said, Saddam has WMDs and could use them with in minutes.

Now he baits us into saying Saddam did not have a weapons program, when the facts state he did. What he did not have was a stockpile of weapons that could be used in a moments notice.

and that is what the weapon inspectors would have discovered.
