There is a thread in freeperville where someone is saying that Kerry didn't earn his purple hearts. Never mind the guy has no evidence to support what he is saying.

This freeper uses as evidence a skit from MASH. I saw it a few months ago on a rerun. Frank Burns got a purple heart for having a fragment taken out. It was an egg shell fragment in his eye.

How could he have faked injuries? A sore ankle? Don't you have to have been shot?
Any injury in a combat zone could do. I know of one cook who got one when a corpsman reported removing a shell fragment from his eye.
