REMEMBER: Bush was AWOL on 9/11
Does Bush really want to talk about Leadership?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
9:03 a.m.: A second hijacked airliner, United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center and explodes. Both buildings are burning.
+++
9:30 a.m.: President Bush, speaking in Sarasota, Florida, says the country has suffered an "apparent terrorist attack."
+++
9:43 a.m.: American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, sending up a huge plume of smoke. Evacuation begins immediately.
+++
9:57 a.m.: Bush departs from Florida.
+++
http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/11/chronology.attack /
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At 12:39 word is that Bush has landed at a base near Shreveport, La. Incredibly, at 12:51, there is footage of a Taliban news conference by one Wakil Ahmed Mutawakel. It is difficult to absorb that Arafat and the Taliban have weighed in before Bush. Five minutes later ABC reports that in Shreveport "the president looked grim. His eyes were somewhat red." The only hard information is that there are no national security people traveling with the president. ABC's Peter Jennings, breaking protocol for news anchors, says forcefully that the country needs words from its president in Washington.

+++

1:08: More than three hours after the second tower collapsed. A taped message from President Bush. But the sound isn't transmitting, and the image is jerky. Then the image goes backwards. Then it goes off.

+++

2:35: Guiliani live again: "The number of casualties will be more than anyone can bear."

+++

3:30: Confirmation that Bush has landed at the Strategic Air Defense Command base near Omaha, Neb. ABC's Ann Compton, traveling with the president, is on the phone to Peter Jennings, whose inflection says it all: "Annie, can you hear me? What are you doing in Nebraska?"

When he asks where Bush is, she replies, "He disappeared down the rabbit hole, Peter."

+++

3:48: For the first time an administration official, White House counsel Karen Hughes, gives a live statement: "The president, vice-president, and speaker of the House are all safe." It is astonishing that this late in the day the White House has nothing more to say.

+++

At 6:41, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld gives a live press conference -- nearly nine hours after the towers collapsed, a cabinet-level official finally speaks.

+++

8:31: Nearly 12 hours after the attack began, 10 and a half after the towers collapsed, President George W. Bush reads a speech live from the Oval Office.

3. Your timeline should start earlier
like right after the first airplane hit and after flight attendant Betty Ong called American Airlines and they were able to put her information to use by idenifying the highjackers on her flight before it crashed. After hearing the 1st plane hit the asshole continued to the school.

14. Earlier time line link
Here is a video link posted by rocknation in an earlier thread on bush using ads with 9/11 images.

This turned my stomach and still does. :puke:

The time line you show after 9:30 AM is so scary. Thanks again Stephanie. Great work, I am passing this around.

as well. He had the information something was coming but his marathon vacations were much more important than protecting us.

Thank you for the information in this thread Stephanie. :thumbsup:

I hate him, he is a coward, a fraud, scum, liar, reprehensible.

6. I think it's interesting to narrow the timeframe like this
You can see that starting from the second plane, when it was clear to everybody what was happening, up until 8:30 that night - Bush was AWOL.

So what is he bragging about?

8. That's what I can't understand
The biggest screw up in intelligence allowed the biggest attack on american soil since 1812, he runs off hiding, does nothing, slinks back into town, and he's a fucking HERO?????

WTF is that all about? The power of propaganda is truly amazing. Mediawhores have convinced quite a number of people that this was his "defining moment" and that he was a "fearless leader". Amazing

Not flying in circles and trying to find bunkerboy his bunker to hide in for over 3 days.

Gotta love that shadow government that the repukes set up and "forgot" to tell the democrats about - and the rest of the country for that matter.

15. bush exploits 9/11 in his propaganda ads and photo ops
He's trying to hide the fact that he FAILED to act on the many warnings he received prior to 9/11, that he FAILED to react at all ON 9/11, and that his policies since 9/11 have all been miserable failures.

An unnecessary war against Iraq, based on LIES, while Bin Laden has been free this whole time? Who is making these decisions?

Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 08:34 AM by Marianne
he is not and did not participate in that are his downfall. That is the most disgusting picture. People do not look at this bad acting, with the exception of the most stupid and gullible Bush supporters and think that he was in charge of something. The facts need to get out so the public knows how he ran and hid , how he sent out his goons to solicit that badge he waved around from the transit policeman's mom, pretending that it was donated to him by the mother because in all the cheap stinking tricks he has pulled this one is the worst--his father got a badge from someone and also waved it aroung and it worked for dad so he goes out and inimidates a woman whose son had just died to hand over h is badge so the asshole can capitalize upon that death . The selling of that urban legend picture of the dumbass looking out a window of AF1, supposedly while it is in the air and supposedly giving orders "stat" to Dick Cheney. Wnat the picture--cough up $150 and you too can have this piece of shit to frame and hang in your bathroom. This unprincipled, lacking in all dignity, crass and without decency, guy has been a phoney since day one and that will be his downfall. There is too much to cover up without the lies one on the other piling up to the point where he is totally buried by his own phoniness and lies.

17. bush: "I mean, I was trying to get out of harm's way. "
http://usinfo.state.gov/topical/pol/nato/02052107.htm

We have pictures of your travel pool on Air Force One looking in horror at this little flat screen, which was back in the plane, seeing the second tower collapse.

The President: Yes.

Q: I wondered what was going on at about that time in the front of the plane?

The President: Well, thanks for asking. First of all, I learned about the attack -- the second attack; I knew about the first attack when I walked into a schoolroom. I thought it was an accident. And I'm listening to an education briefing, and Andy Card, my Chief of Staff, whispered in my ear, he said, "America's under attack. There's been a second plane crash; America is under attack."

I made up my mind right then and there that if somebody was attacking us, we would respond with the full might of America.

Q: But there was little you could do at that moment, in that plane.

The President: At that moment, no, there wasn't. You're right. I mean, I was trying to get out of harm's way. We were concerned about threats on the President. We were worried about future attacks, and there's a lot of belief that Flight 93 was headed to the White House.

Thank you Stephanie, I was wondering if anyone was going to recall this telling remark.

I think JFK needs to get a copy of that clip and play that snippet over and over as a voice over, while showing the clip of * reading about goats.

It amazes me to hear people talk about how great * was in his response to the attack.

He freaking ran away.

This, the worst security failure since Pearl Harbor, happend on the * watch, and these rw idiots tout that as SUCCESS?!?!?!?!?!?!

Someone please save me, I feel like I'm drowning in swill.

I wish I could go to sleep until 11/2

18. This slice in time shows Bush is NOT the commander-in-chief.
The Litte Turd from Crawford was completely useless. Apart from zig-zagging across the country to stay the heck away from Washington, Smirkelgruber did zero brain-storming on what to do next. What's really sick, is Cheney's in charge of a cabal of kooks and crooks. Who do they all answer to?

Great reportage is the Truth. Much appreciated, Stephanie. Bush was AwOL on 9-11!

EXCERPT...

30. bush is consistent
The last 3+ years have been just like the day of 9/11. 'They' only care about themselves. Tax cuts, helping the rich get richer, taking away people's rights (in this country and out of this country), war, etc., etc....

The only way I know of to stop being mad is to vote him out and also his thug cronies.

31. What Was He Doing in the First Place?
Wasn't Bush going to that school for a photo-op of him reading to children? Maybe governors and state legislatures could handle schools, and presidents and Congress could handle national stuff. I just thought it was wrong for Bush to be out of pocket to begin with. And dividing the work of government between two levels of government was a really progressive idea. If a president has his hands in everything, that takes us back to monarchy, which is probably ;-) a huge step back.

33. Combine two things in a Kerry ad
Show the clock from time of attacks until 8:30 at NIGHT before da' big man spoke (read)---and then put in the voice of Jennings (and I believe others were starting to say the same thing because I wasn't watching ABC during that day)asking where Bush is and how the American people need to hear from him. In fact, I was watching CNN and they began late in the afternoon to do some "flashes of anger" as the talking heads wondered where he was. That is the collection of sound bites Kerry needs. He doesn't have to show any footage of the site; he just needs the numbers 9/11 on the screen and these tv anchor shots (sort of like the famous Walter Cronkite one on the day Kennedy was shot). That would put Mr. Brave into perspective.

34. Yes, that's great! Also, we need to remember the LIES about AF1 threats
Their first excuse for his being AWOL was that there were threats to Air Force One, which was a big freaking lie on the face of it and then later proven to be a complete lie. Someone here will have the links for this, I'm sure.

It's just appalling that he uses this day to portray himself as some kind of leader, when he was bunker-hopping like the Bunnypants coward that he is.

Every single New Yorker showed more courage than bush that day. Every single one.
