BBV - My Republican friend finally gets it - Vanity Fair article.
My friend is a New England Republican; fiscal conservative and social liberal. She had already decided not to vote for Bush* again but when I tried to tell her about computer voting a year ago, she laughed in my face and told me I was being paranoid. Today she sent me an email. This is the message:

"When you told me about how elections could be tampered with through computerized voting, I thought the case was being overstated. Well, check out this month's Vanity Fair. You may have already read a lot of this. The computerized voting machine companies come off as total crooks, and the elections that have apparently been rigged is pretty frightening.

This time there may be rioting in the streets. I'll be among them if this carries the presidential election. My only hope is that a hacker here and there will bother to vote and screw up the entire thing. That would be just desserts!"

Amazing how something is inconceivable until it's in the mainstream media.

Bev Harris is featured in the article and it seems very thorough.

4. OK, so I haven't finished reading it yet
I got a bit distracted as my TV won't go on (argh!) and I'm trying to find out why, but I read a bit and I look forward to finishing so I can say I've met you (sort of).
Congrats on all the work you've done on this. I know Bev has said you caught a lot of flack.

9. I finished the article
You only got one mention. :-(
The details, however, have been enough to scare the shit out of my friend. And she's not easily scared.

6. Vanity Fair has been great! But they sure got thinner with lost
advertising, I presume. The corporate whores don't like their plotting and nefarious deeds exposed.

I MUCH prefer the thinner model! Make sure to buy it and encourage the change.
