Question About Iraq Paying For the War.
It occurred to me that in as much as there were no weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq, on what basis do we now say, "Iraq has to pay for the war"?

I remember being stunned at how quickly people started talking about Iraq paying for the war shortly after it started. I mean, I never did get that one. We were the people who invaded. How can you go around kicking people's doors down, and then tell them, they gotta pay for it? I felt embarrassed by the sheer arrogance we were displaying to the world.

Well, I figured, as good as they are with the spin, they'll get away with making Iraq pay. If they had found the wmds they kept saying were there, then people would point to that as the reason they should pay.

But there were no wmds. Upon what basis do we charge the Iraqi people to pay for bombing the crap out of them?

We did this to them for our own security. We did it for us. So how do we charge them for it? I think I'm beginning to understand why the US won't go anywhere near those international courts of justice type things. Way to go prez, for making sure we stay lawless.

1. Money is flowing in and out of Iraq like sand in the desert.
Who knows who is paying for what? Except the US taxpayers, of course. I have no idea where Iraq's oil revenues are currently going. Can you imagine having to run an audit on what's going on over there?

As for Iraq paying. People were attempting to argue that they were paying for being liberated. I haven't heard that lately.

2. Like anything else...
The costs for the Iraq War will be socialized (paid for by us) while the profits coming from Iraq will be privatized.

3. Wasn't it proposed that the money NOT BE A LOAN
because W & company were so concerned with saddling the "poor Iraqi people" with an enormous debt?

Unlike the actual working people (numbers falling daily) in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
