Rightwing columnist Michelle Malkin quotes "Ashcroft haters" from DU

Those oh-so-compassionate liberals could hardly contain their glee upon hearing the news that Attorney General John Ashcroft is suffering from a severe case of gallstone pancreatitis.

"He has it coming. He is utterly sub-human and evil. Suffer, bastard," gloated an Internet user on the DemocraticUnderground.com Web site. "(T)he world would be better off without him," responded another writer on the forum. "I hope he is in the most severe pain a human being can suffer, and after that, I hope he remains in constant pain with no hope of relief," chimed in yet another bleeding-heart Democrat. Out in Hollywood, comedian Bill Maher echoed these unsparing sentiments during his HBO talk show monologue, speculating that Ashcroft contracted his unimaginably painful and potentially deadly illness from "wiping his (expletive) with the Bill of Rights." The audience roared with laughter.

More muddy thinking (in the "shorter" format) from rightwinger Michelle Malkin:

Day care is killing America's children.

Although it's not ok to make fun of abstinence-only programs even though there's no evidence that they work, supporting them in spite of this fact is good and pure.

2. Those oh-so-compassionate liberals
Who ever said we were compassionate toward one the most evil in the Bush dominion?

4. Aw shucks...
I never get quoted. I guess it was because I have said more than once that I only hope he gets what he rightfully deserves and they KNOW what that would be.

5. Gee, I guess I'd feel bad..
..if the complaining wasn't coming from a party who slandered Bill Clinton, portrayed his daughter as a dog, called women "feminazis" and generally acted like boorish louts. Congratulations, Ms. Malkin, on your admirable reporting. Wonder where you were when all the freepers were dancing in the streets about Paul Wellstone's death. You have a net site with tens of thousands of members and you'll find, merely by pure chance, some who are either mean enough to engage in schadenfreude or just normal political types venting their frustrations. Go tell your "major league asshole" supporters to relax.

6. Examples of Republican politeness
"I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus - living fossils - so we will never forget what these people stood for."
- Rush Limbaugh, Denver Post, 12-29-95

"We're going to keep building the party until we're hunting Democrats with dogs."
- Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), Mother Jones, 08-95

"Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past - I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble - recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin's penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an 'enemy of the people.' The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, 'clan liability.' In Imperial China, enemies of the state were punished 'to the ninth degree': that is, everyone in the offender's own generation would be killed and everyone related via four generations up, to the great-great-grandparents, and four generations down, to the great-great-grandchildren, would also be killed."
- John Derbyshire, National Review, 02-15-01

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."
- Ann Coulter, at the Conservative Political Action Conference, 02-26-02

13. Derbyshire was the worst of a bad lot
There's more to his piece than you quoted. Basically it was that a better society would stone Chelsea to death just because she is related to Bill and Hillary. The only thing that could make it more disgusting would be if it were published in the premier Conservative publication in America. Which is exactly who published it.

Michele Malkin in a slimy piece of garbage and the thing to remember about her and Coulter and Limbaugh and Derbyshire and all the rest is that they aren't some anonymous nobodies venting on the net. These are published right-wingers saying the first family and the New York Times would make good terrorist targets.

So let them whine about the mean Liberals. It's long past time that Liberals got mean.

Don't let that make you think twice about attacking them in the harshest ways possible. Your team hasn't paid women to bring phony sexual assault charges against a sitting President. Your team didn't flat-out steal an election. If you're doing anything less than those things back at them, then you're being nice.

Don't let them back you down with their recent whining about Liberal 'hate' either. They're the haters. They're the ones arguing in their 'respectable' publications how the people they hate, and even the children of the people they hate, should be murdered.

That's the kind of rancor that people like Malkin are built of. Poor baby, doesn't like it when just a little of the hatred they spew comes back.

Good.

10. Did she use my name?
Did she? huh? huh?

On her deathbed in 1973 my mom was pissed off that she was not on the white house enemites list.

I figure if I make it onto Ashcrofts list that will go just a little way toward maling things right.

12. It's absolutely ridiculous
To take quotes off of websites like DU or Free Republic and then say "look, this is what these people think" because you can always find somebody saying something extreme.

I like DU a lot but anyone quoting DU in an article is doing extremely sub par journalism.

14. What gives her the right to define us?
Compassionate? Bleeding heart? Polite?

Those are conservative definitions, not ours. There is never anything pretty about fighting for workers rights, civil rights, women's rights. It means confronting, going to jail, sometimes dying. Who says we are soft because we believe in social justice? They do, and they are wrong.

I am glad that we are fightin back and spitting in their faces. They did it first, and if they can't take it, they should get out of the game.

I hope you are reading this, michelle. BTW, Fuck you.

15. I think the fact that DU is being "watched" and quoted is GREAT
.
.
.

even IF the comments she or anyone else makes are negative,

they are giving DU free exposure !!

by actually advertising democraticunderground.com, I am sure some out of just plain curiosity will look us up, snoop around, and maybe even "convert" !!

So I say to the "outsiders" . . .

- flame away! We appreciate the "honorable mentions"!

I think DU can stand on it's own . .

By the way, notice that DU is over 41,000 strong now

(and glad they are paying attention!) . . .

16. GREAT, americans will see that we have some guts!
Most people would be way to scared and politicaly correct to make comments like that. I believe people will respond well to hearing that other americans are talking FRANKLY.

Most americans are tired of seeing the talking heads on tv who aren't allowed to talk about 99.99999% of things. They watch as their job disappears and their son dies in Iraq, and the talking heads on tv are debating whether gays should be allowed civil unions or full marriage liscences.

...if here were in the ICU (intensive care unit).

Such piety, Michelle.
