Drudge isn't left or right, just drudge
I don't think Drudge posts links for any other reason than posting links that he thinks are sensational.

Like, right now he has "RUMSFELD KEPT PIECE OF PLANE THAT HIT PENTAGON" as his main link. Why would he lead with that other than it's the most sensational story?

Seems to me that if he posts headlines favorable to the Right, it's only because the Right is more sensational.

1. Uh huh, yeah
Listen to his radio show and get back to me, OK? :eyes:

Seriously, if you can't detect bias in just his choice and wording of headlines - there's something wrong with you.

2. Never wise to generalize from a particular....
Historically, Drudge has taken great delight in trashing Democrats, the left, progressives and all manner of un-right figures.

This blurb of his is a reflection of a slow news day, nothing more. This guy will run a Luciana Goldberg smear piece on a Democrat at every opportunity, without checking sources, without disclaimer.

When he figures out that he's just a flunkie for the right, maybe he'll go back to local gossip columns, his forte.

3. he likes everything that may cause a scandal...
he has frequently posted bad things about Republicans, but he is ALWAYS doing it when it is a Democrat.

It is obvious he is a right winger, but if he sees the opportunity to say something controversial about anyone, he will.

4. One anecdote proves nothing, got any deep analysis
how long will this be his top link, what is the average length of time in comparison?

I think he is a reichwing hack

5. Many on the right would not view
Rumsfeld's souvenir as anything but as a legitimately acquired piece of memorabilia - like the Luger your dad brought hom from WWII. They love this stuff - I mean, any group who demeans guys like Kerry, Clark, and even McCain on the basis of their war records and praises AWOL folk like *, Quayle, etc. for their great patriotism...whom are you talking to?

Of course Clinton was definitely a 'draft-dodger' although Bush was defending the skies of Texas.

sheesh...

6. correct
YOu are right Drudge's website cannot be classified as left or right it can be classified as entertaining and informative and I check it daily. It gets its "right" reputation due to the whole ClintonLewinsky scandal.

8. You can't possibly be serious
Who just had a huge lie headline that said Kerry made it with intern? Get a grip. Try Buzzflash instead of Drudge for a few days and see if you can notice anything. a hint: one has truth the other gossip.

Drudge's bias is obvious. One or two pieces don't make up for the overwhelming slant to his journalistic droppings

11. Sludge Is SO-oooo Far-Right
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 12:59 PM by UTUSN
10. That he might as well amputate his left arm, leg, and nut (if he has one).

9. That he plays his Shrub doll leading his SS army dolls.

8. That he and Dan COULTER trade leather outfits.

7. That he thinks WIENER-"Savage" is a Left winger.

6. That he lets his parents, who were government bureaucrats, eat cat food.

5. That he thinks "morals" consist of moralizing.

4. That civil rights and liberties are only to be proclaimed when HE is searched at the airport, when HIS private life is exposed.

3. That there is no loyalty among his network of spies to their employers or any objective standard of "integrity," just to spreading the smear jobs.

2. That Utopia to him means a plutocratic society, where the underlings would work for next to nothing and would have sex with him.

1. That it is worthwhile for him to associate with actual Wingnut fundamentalists who would as soon see him pickled in a jar if he didn't help them so much. Pa-RUM-pum.

Smudge lurks at DU, especially while his radio show is on the air and gets irked by the abuse we sling back at him.

15. why do you care what he does?
He's not a mainstream news source, he's just a guy with a web page. He gets paid based on the number of hits so viewing his web page and clicking on his links makes him money.

16. Drudge called 'Fair And Balanced' - DRUDGE EXCLUSIVE
Come on he is the biggest right wing whore there is. He loves to post any rumor, innuendo or gossip especially it is about Democrats. He's often been used to push smears by the right wing media, from Monica to the lies about Kerry recently.

17. he throws an occasional bone
but that hardly makes him centrist.. That's the same bullshit argument O'Reilly uses. Look, if your stances are 95% conservative, you are a conservative, not an independent. If every stance you take is 100% in line with either liberal or conservative thought, you are a programmed robot, not a free thinking human.

He certainly posted enough stories on the Clintons and anyone they were related to or ever even knew.

19. Thanks for the lead-in!
From the upcoming Vanity Fair:

-- Neil suggested divorce in a May 2002 E-mail: "We're almost out of money and I've lost my patience for being compared to my brothers, for being put down for my inability to make money, and tired of not being loved."

-- A friend of Neil's, Jamal Daniel, bought Sharon and Neil a $380,000 cottage in Maine at Sharon's request: "Neil was embarrassed by Sharon's 'end runs' to friends, to ask for things."

-- Sharon exploded when she found Neil and Maria at a smoothie shop, calling the Mexican-born Andrews a "Mexican whore" and "Mexican trash."

-- After Sharon pulled some hair out of Neil's head, his lawyers accused her of practicing voodoo. But Sharon shot back: "I pulled Neil's hair out because I wanted to get it tested for cocaine, not because of voodoo."

-- The former President Bush refused Sharon's request for a $467,000 loan to keep her Houston mansion, telling her to find something cheaper. "The divorce is final," the elder Bush wrote, " the best thing for you to do is get on with your life. Close the unhappy chapter with Neil, find a job, and look to the future, not the past."

22. You only have to look at the pictures
which he uses: that picture of Ruth Bader Ginzburg yesterday was hellacious - Kerry always looks as bad as possible, and Junior looks like a movie star. Drudge is about as lopsided as you can get and still have people like me have him on the 'Favorites' just to see what the idiot is proffering as 'news' today.

"I knew Walter Winchell, Walter Winchell was a friend of mine, and Mr. Drudge, you're no Walter Winchell!"

-Huge applause-
