What's the deal with the Bush ads?
I've only caught a couple, but on both he comes out and says, "this message was approved personally by myself," or something like that. Never seen that in a campaign commercial before. It's like he's trying to take credit for the commercials himself. It's like it's part of a pattern of increasing bizarre behaviour on his part, up there with demanding his feet not touch any dirt.

Anybody else notice unusually unusual behavior from Bush?

(btw, what's the name of that Centauri Emperor from Babylon 5, the one that steady grows insane? Can't help but be reminded.)

2. Kerry will have to say it too

I think it sounds strange but that is the law now. Actually it is a good thing because it shows who is responsible for the ad and that it is coming straight from the candidate. I remember how some ads would be so nasty, then the candidate would claim that someone else had put it on the air without their approval, now that claim can't be made.

6. I saw one on the travel channel last night
It made me wonder who they're aiming ads at, their rich piggie base, or bored poor people like myself. I don't watch them anyway as soon as recognition kicks in the channel is flipped.

4. the weirdest thing about them
(and no offense meant, DrW...) is that he says I am "President" Bush, rather than I am George Bush, which would be a much more normal statement.

I think he's putting the "President" there instead of his name because he's afraid people will forget who he is?

5. I think it's an advertising trick

Name the product, name the product, name the product.

Didn't you ever notice how Ari Fleischer would say things like, 'The president got up and had the president's breakfast and then the president took meetings. Afterward the president....

At first, it drove me nuts. I thought, "Have these people never heard of pronouns?" Then I realized, they are trying to convince me that he's presidential.

on edit: typo
