Posted, a traitors list!
I heard about this web site while driving to work last night, listening to Erin Hart. She said it has a 'traitors list'. Sure enough, there it is!

What's next? Blackballing?

I don't think I'd seen him there before.

I'm still sad I haven't made it to the Traitor's List (TM) yet.

30. It appears that only liberals pay money to be on the Traitor List (TM)
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 01:34 PM by icymist
I'm guessing this because there's soooo many common people listed on the Patriot List (TM), that Conservatives don't have to pay?

I just checked and when someone wants to add an 'Honorary Patriot (TM)' all they ask for is an email!

Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 11:04 AM by JCCyC
"Treason: Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign,..."

Gee, I didn't know Bob Dole was a traitor. Not to mention Ken Starr and his Impeachment Gang. And whan did the USA become a monarchy?

16. I'm going to have to guess that. . .
they never actually read the Constitution.

Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

They really should read it sometime :)

21. First the Administration should
First the Administration would have to read section 3 as well. Not like that is a surprise since Bush admitted on national television that he doesn't read newspapers since they're full of opinion.

Here are a few other opinion pieces that I'm sure he's unfamiliar with.

Thomas Payne's Common Sense - http://odur.let.rug.nl/~usa/D/1776-1800/paine/CM/sensexx.htm

The Bill of Rights -
http://memory.loc.gov/const/bor.html

Thomas Jefferson - http://www.arches.uga.edu/~jpetrie/TJ.html

Or

Benjamin Franklin
http://quotes.telemanage.ca/quotes.nsf/QuotesByCatPerson?ReadForm&RestrictToCategory=Benjamin+Franklin

Though I'm sure George W. Bush would be more than willing to pervert them to defend his cause had he read them.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Man will ultimately be governed by God or by tyrants.

George Bush's actions show he is unfamiliar with those though.

10. okay, so you can buy your spot on the 'traitors' list
Which is a list of some truly great people.

The probush people, as with most people who support the BFEE, must be mind-numbinly ignorant.

Of course, the most stunningly ironic thing is that these are NO DOUBT some of the same people who bashed Clinton all the while he was in office. Now, by their own definition, wouldn't that make them traitors, too?

Don't you just love the glaring double standard of neo-cons?

Interesting there's nothing about bin Laden or al Qaeda being enemy #1 or any mention of the people who actually seek to do us harm.

From this site I'd assume that the Bushites see some singers, actors, poets, and Dems as the biggest threat to our nation--or is it the biggest threat to their reign?

Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 11:21 AM by The Whiskey Priest
Or we live in an Aristocracy, or, Bush is a Tyrant.

The right does not think before they do.

Some googled definitions: Take your pick.

Aristocracy: A form of government in which a minority rules under the law
http://www.google.com/search?q=define:aristocracy

Tyranny: a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition etc.)

Tyrant: a ruler who had seized power without legal right to it
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=define%3A+Tyrant

In Roman Law, an appointed individual given exceptional powers in times of crisis.

a person who has total power for making every decision in a country.

A ruler who is not restricted by a constitution, laws or any opposition

a ruler with absolute power

Traitor List ™

Treason: Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.

Traitor: If you do not support our President's decisions you are a traitor.

18. 140 well know people "traitors"?
Don't these people realize that forming a list that long says 1 of two things? Either:

- Their definition of "traitor" is overly broad, or

- Something is seriously wrong when this many well known people start acting traitoriously.

24. Interesting to note
A great many of the "traitors" on that list are people who've made great contributions to Amercan culture - I see a prominent graphic designer who literally revolutionized the way we see everyday things, poets so influential they've entered the canon while still alive, musicians who've inspired millions of people, activists and academics who've struggled to change our perceptions and open our eyes and minds. The guy disparaging all these great people has accomplished -- the creation of a mediocre website? Bravo, dude. :boring:

i did not see any sign that it is satire, except trying to cover their ass by saying it was parody.
even though my knee jerk reaction was to want to be on the list, i cannot picture any of these people paying to be on the list. i guess there is still room for merit.

After all, I am third-generation Democrat, a home-grown Texan from way back and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who disagrees more vehemently with the bushco policies and decisions.

But wait. That's not the definition of traitor, is it?

Our founding fathers must spin in their graves at shit like this. Dissention is very American. The stifling of such dissention or the attempt to stifle is quite remarkably un-American.

When I was reading some of it to my veteran husband, he said "hey I served my country honorably and I hate bush, if they don't like it they can go f____ themselves."

Can't really put it any better than that.

Satire or not.
