It has not gone unnoticed up here in the North that Bush never visits Canada, while he spends millions to visit many other countries, even just to deliver a turkey. .

I might add into the question as to how many Canadian Prime Ministers never were "invited" to the WH - or well, lets say a pig farm. . ?

Our Chretien apparently fell beneath the radar of those "deserving" a meet with the American, oh right, pResident.

2. I'm okay with him not visiting. He wouldn't be able to control
public access to him as much as in other countries. We all know the last thing he wants is to hear what people think.

It's bad enough that David Frum is living in Toronto and telling everyone who'll listen about our obligations to Junior* and his crew.

I've been under the impression that Chretien held the same position with Junior that Trudeau did with Nixon...

3. He cancelled a visit last Spring,
supposedly a "punishment" for our not joining his crusade. It might have been because he was destined to be met by tens of thousands of protesters. Either way, his absence is no punishment.

4. Maybe they won't let him in
They are pretty picky about who they let in the country. If you have DUIs, you need to request a special permit to enter Canada.

hmmm

I remember reading something like that at the time of the G8 I think

but MORE to the point on that are two things,

WE belong to the ICC

AND

we have our own Crimes Against Humanity laws(new 2002) that we can "grab" anyone in our country suspected of Crimes Against Humanity "no matter when and where those crimes were committed"

So, maybe bunny-pants is just scared shitless that some over-zealous human rights group might put his ass in jail up here?

now THAT would be justice !!

:bounce:

and why isn't anyone answering my INITIAL question, or maybe Junior IS the first to "snub" Canada and/or its leaders ?

and

to the other previous posters, no, I don't particularly "miss" having Junior in our country,

well unless it was behind bars, that'd be OK

Bush's attitude toward Canada is insulting, and like it or not, that Moron IS the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, and our neighbor . .

oh well, maybe it'll change in November

(sigh)

6. I thought, traditionally, US Presidents visit Canada first
"US presidents traditionally make their first foreign trip to the Canadian capital"

a 'clue' of what we were in store for - marching to the beat of their own drum
