Condesleeza's Catch Phrase
On MTP this morning was "Making their world smaller" (referring to the terrists). Did anyone keep a count of how many times she repeated that one pointless phrase? The Rethugs don't actually have policies, all they have is a marketing department.

1. I don't know about 'smaller', but bush* & co. with their little foray into
Iraq has sure as hell made it a lot more dangerous.

2. What an odd thing to say
They are in Iraq, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, Bali.....they seem to be getting around quite easily, thanks to the idiocy of CondiSleeza and fellow trilobytes.

The chimp administration is trying to make as much of the world uninhabitable as possible. If they keep this up, those darn teraists won't have anywhere to go. See? The war on everything is working.

3. My favorite line was
that Iraq was the "greatest" threat to world, even more than North Korea.

Russert was terrible when rice implied that their was a link between iraq and alquaeda, and he did not even refute it

6. Dean Refuted that !
With vigor!

Dean did really well and didn't back off a bit from Russert nor did he flinch correcting Rice's laughable contention!

10. Russert also let it go when
Rice included Saudi Arabia in the list of countries "helping" us in the war on terror. Excuse me, but it was Saudis that attacked us on 9/11 and they continue to fund terrorism. Hello, Tim? Are ya home?:wtf:

11. My favorite was when she said

We had to go to war with Iraq because it was "a state of concern".
First it was because they had weapons of mass destruction
next it was WMD programs.
Then Saddam was a bad man.
next it was to free Iraq.
Now it's because they are a state of concern.
Condi, Why did we attack Iraq? Please tell me! I want to know!

5. Since 2001
There have been horrific bombings in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tunisia, Bali, Istanbul, Kenya and now, probably, Madrid.
Their operations are expanding all over the world, but don't confuse Condi with facts.

7. She also doesn't seem to know
That Afghanistan is aliding back into chaos after our great victory there. Oh well, she's only the National Security Adviser: can't expect her to keep up with everything, can we?

12. Very true
Another Condi/Bush line is the "we have killed or captured 2/3 of Al-Qaeda's known leadership."

Known leadership?!

Could this sentence be more meaningless?

Hell, one of the 9/11 hijackers was on the FBIs most wanted terrorist list, while being listed under his real name and address in the San Diego phonebook.

Condi and Shrub don't seem to "know" all that much.

13. I was screaming at the TV
While she was yammering on about how on Sept. 10 no one knew what an immanent threat Al Qaeda was. I guess not, if you discount all the information passed on by the Clinton Administration. I guess not, if the prez goes off for a six week vacation.

14. Yeah, ask Condi whether she's planning any trips soon to London?
I don't think so.

9. the "war on terror" is failing
from Chalmers Johnson:

By far the greatest defect in the "global cavalry" strategy, however, is that it accentuates Washington's impulse to apply irrelevant military remedies to terrorism. As the prominent British military historian, Correlli Barnett, has observed, the U.S. attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq only increased the threat of al-Qaeda. From 1993 through the 9/11 assaults of 2001, there were five major al-Qaeda attacks worldwide; in the two years since then there have been seventeen such bombings, including the Istanbul suicide assaults on the British consulate and an HSBC Bank. Military operations against terrorists are not the solution. As Barnett puts it, "Rather than kicking down front doors and barging into ancient and complex societies with simple nostrums of 'freedom and democracy,' we need tactics of cunning and subtlety, based on a profound understanding of the people and cultures we are dealing with -- an understanding up till now entirely lacking in the top-level policy-makers in Washington, especially in the Pentagon."

In his notorious "long, hard slog" memo on Iraq of October 16, 2003, Defense secretary Rumsfeld wrote, "Today, we lack metrics to know if we are winning or losing the global war on terror." Correlli-Barnett's "metrics" indicate otherwise. But the "war on terrorism" is at best only a small part of the reason for all our military strategizing. The real reason for constructing this new ring of American bases along the equator is to expand our empire and reinforce our military domination of the world.
