The president of Spain was hugely unpopular, the timing of the terrorist attack is VERY suspicious, a couple days before the presidential election no less.

He was going to lose anyway, could this have been his "Hail Mary" attempt to stir fear, confusion and blind Nationalism in the Spanish people. After all, what did he have to lose? He knew he was going to lose the election.

Thankfully, the people of Spain didnÕt fall for it.

Things are not looking good for Bush, I expect the US government will stage another terrorist attack on the US close to the elections.

in accordance with the elections
I do not believe the SPanish govt was involved
my conspiracy-theory leanings I try to check

I think it is very possible that
we could experience another attack before the elections in Nov.
but again, I think it would be the terrorists and not the govt.

what that would do, I believe,
is wake the American people up to the fact
that there is no way we can protect ourselves
particularly through loos of civil liberties
in the hopes of catching 'the bad guys'

it would also bring home the truth
that the Bush admin. has not made us any safer

on the other hand
the Repugs will try to steal the election

I am MUCH more worried about rigging of the voting machines

There are bound to be some that wax nostalgic for those poll numbers in the 90s but others who are a little hesitant, wondering if it could leave bush vulnerable to charges of not sufficiently protecting the Homeland.

Then still others who might see it as an effective way to move ahead with other domestic plans, assuming that "elections" are indeed on the table...
