Just in case you don't recognize the names, they are the couple in my avatar, the first couple married in SF, together for 51 years.
http://www.advocate.com/html/stories/909/909_martin_lyon.aspOne of the interesting parts of the interview.
Why do you think conservatives care so much that gays and lesbians want to get married?
Martin: Religion certainly guides a lot of that—their interpretation of God. They also see the United States as a Christian nation, and as a Christian nation we should not have perverts or queers.
Lyon: The people who are running these organizations that are so down on gays and lesbians, they make a lot of money off of us. I’m not so sure they believe that the fact that we’re getting married is going to doom civilization. But that’s a good line to scare people with and get more money.
