Outsourcing and Out Migration the new Repug Plan?
Just got a note from an unemployed techie buddy.

He had a tech support job interview this morning. Things were going really well until they asked him if he would be willing to relocate to India.

Yeah, That makes sense. Move the long term unemployed geeks to India, pay them poop, lower the unemployment percentages here and put voices with Amurikan accents on the 800 lines.

Sounds like a real win win to me.

:wtf:

1. Look at the bright side.
It means that India doesn't have the skilled workers that corporations need to get the job done.

The Republican party should hang its head in shame for doing this to our country.

2. I recall hearing somewhere
...or maybe reading somewhere--on DU?--that Dubya recently made the following ridiculous assertion, when heckled about outsourcing as he was campaigning in the Rust Belt: he would support legislation that would require companies that send jobs overseas to send workers overseas to fill those jobs. Was I imagining this? Why hasn't this exploded in his face? On the other hand, why should this stand out among all the other stupid things he's said?

3. I hope you do find the reference.
If he did say it, it means that there is a hidden agenda being played out one card at a time. We know that Bush is the spokesperson, but who was the father of this bastard child of an idea? Was it the Manhattan Institute? Was it CATO?

4. I was very close to joining the company PRT in Barbados
In 98.

And I am lucky, because the company died in Barbados.

But the business plan was good and probably would work today on some other island. The deal was they did outsourcing programming work in Barbados for mainly insurance companies. They would use programmers from India but hire US people for managers/team leaders. The deal was they would pay the US people around 80K, plus a furn. apartment on Barbados. The Indians also got apartments, just the choice was not as good as the US.

As a single man, it sounded like heaven....
