Please call both your Senators against increasing FCC fines.
Last week, the House voted to increase FCC fines to $500,000-per-incident.

This bill could be used to drive Howard Stern and other critics of Bush off the air.

Please call your Senators against increasing FCC fines. It takes about 5 minuts. The free Capitol Switchboard number is:
1-800-839-5276

sample phone words:
Hello, can I speak with the office of Senator _______?

Hello, my name is ____, can I speak to someone about the FCC bill?

I'd like to leave a message for Senator _____, please vote against increasing FCC fines. Right now, we have a balance between fighting indecency and protecting freedom-of-speech. This bill would hurt freedom-of-speech.

1. Ha. Voinovich and DeWine
DeWine's been there since the "revolution".

Voinovich:

Threw a hissy fit as governor when Clinton came to town. Forced a pilot to violate air space restrictions so that he could "fly" down to Columbus instead of drive the 2 hours it would have taken.

"Stood up to Bush" on the tax cut size issue, then went along with the legislation anyway. (As I predicted).

Like they would bother defying Bush in any real way.

2. If both your Senators are Republicans, call anyway, because
If both your Senators are Republicans, call anyway, because the big-media corporations will be lobbying against the bill.

If there are enough calls from ordinary citizens against increasing FCC fines, they will realize they can vote against increasing FCC fines, which is the position of the big-media corporations.

4. Hmm, I wonder how Voinovich would have taken a "fighter escort"
or being shot down when he took off from Cleveland's airport.
