NAGGING GETS THINGS DONE! (Check my sig line for giving 'em Hell on the HILL!). NOW, in addition to that (I am sorry to have to add to everybody's "to do" list, not like we're not all busy enough, thank you) we have to nag THE MEDIA.
Shoot - WHERE did I read (from a link HERE, I'm certain) that some media whore stated that a mere 100 letters to MSNBC or some such outlet would change the course of the coverage.
Again, forgive me for nagging YOU, but when I was in radio, and we got even ONE letter, everybody from management on down knew that it was REPRESENTATIVE of a LOT more. My husband, who used to work in radio, albeit more briefly than I did, reminded me that the assumption was - such a single letter was assumed to represent THOUSANDS of similar bent. In a market the size of Los Angeles, that is CERTAINLY no exaggeration.
Please guys. Go to www.takebackthemedia.com and get - one, two, three, maybe a handful of email or snailmail addresses. Or fax numbers. Or phone numbers. ANYTHING. And make your voice heard. It matters. It matters a LOT. ESPECIALLY in the last few weeks when it's being noted everywhere (even sometimes reluctantly) that the tide is turning and people are waking up, and bushie isn't the Teflon God his apologists make him out to be. NOW, more and more people are becoming painfully aware, just by the pile-on of stories about him and hitting back, fighting back, and standing up, being done against him, that he's an emperor standing there naked.
Again, I am sorry to keep nagging like this. I know I sound like a "Janey One-Note." I know I sound like a broken record. But I see the drip-drip-drip turning into slosh-slosh-slosh. And it's because little by little, people are waking up. They're BEING AWAKENED. It's not something they're doing just out of the goodness of their hearts. It's because they're being hit, over and over and over and over, with stuff that is NOT favorable to AWOL. Lots of stuff - of all sorts and shapes and sizes. And like water against the cliffs, or the Colorado River against the land in one corner of Arizona, it starts to wear things down. This is political erosion of the first magnitude. And we all need to take an active role in furthering its progress.
