Poll question: Do the terrorists care one bit who wins the election?

I doubt they do anymore than Hitler cared who the Prime Minister of Poland was. The question "who do terrorists want as President?" is so asinine it doesn't even deserve a response in my view.

Although I disagree 100% with what "terrorists" do, I recognize that they are human beings, motivated by events that they apparently believe are beyond their ability to deal with any other way. If, for example, an American president focused attention on the root causes of violence in the West Bank, it might not stop all terrorists. But it might stop many, even most.

It surely matters to them (see previous post).

In particular, if you start by assuming that they (whoever "they" are) want to incite a grand conflict between Islam and Everybody-Else (especially secular western countries), then they would probably prefer a president just like Bush, who is clearly on the hairy edge of declaring his own Crusades.

But that's quite a strong assumption, I don't think I'd bet my life on it, knowing as little as I do.

....interesting that the story is being spun here that the terrorists have been the force behind the change of government in Spain...rather than saying that people were behind it because the government ignored the 80% of the population that was opposed to them getting involved in Iraq. On Friday the story was that the citizens took to the streets in opposition to the terrorists rather than in opposition to the government attempting to hide facts about the bombings. The media makes me ill.

7. Al Qaeda hates the Bushes and we'll be safer without a Bush in

power, IMO. It's because of Poppy Bush that we have troops in Saudi Arabia, home of Islam's most sacred city, Mecca. We know that Osama is very angry about that, presumably many Muslims are. Dubya has also invaded two Muslim countries, adding fuel to the fire of their hate, so voting him out should be viewed as Americans doing the right thing, may stop Muslims from attacking American civilians.

If we oust Bush*, we'll be "capitulating to the terrorists" in the view of some. They are wrong in their thinking.

We want to oust Bush* for many, many reasons. We wanted him out before September 11, 2001. We knew early on that he was not good for our country, not to mention that he was not ekected to the office he's occupying. We don't base our votes on the preferences of others. It's not our concern if others are pleased or displeased -- though I think it's wise to get along with as many nations as you can and Bush* has not played well with others.

The right wing is just trying to make us feel guilty that a vote against Bush* may please some evildoers. Don't fall for this trick!

I will guess: al Q. (the Base)If so, it seems to me that they would prefer Bushco because with Bushco in power the Al Q. is expanding. Instead of decreasing the popularity of Al Q. Bushco does everything to draw more support and recruitment to Al Q. Bushco and al Q. (the Base) seem to be in a symbiouses One feeds off of the other.

There are other ways to deal with al Q. than what is being done. Can anyone think of other methods to decrease the attacks of al Q. and lower their expansion?

11. There are some thoughtful posts on here.

I think it shows that "the public" is able to view things in definitions that go beyond a simple black & white simplistic non-reality. Today we have OBL as the great evil-doer. (And perhaps this is largely true.) However, his family was/is pretty close friends and business partners with the #1 oil family in America. Huh? Ain't that something? And OBL was our buddy not that long ago, back when the "evil empire" had invaded Afghanistan. So it might be safe to suggest that there is every reason to believe that the dynamics involved in WHO is ion the White House has a HUGE influence on the amount of violence in the world. Peace will not result from one election. No, it's not that simple. But this is: If bush IS elected in November, we are going to see a level of violence in the world that humanity can not prepare for.
