were Dems ever this EVIL when they had the majority ???

I was watching that horror, Orrin Hatch late last night. he's CHANGING the very rules that gave some measure of representation to the minority when the pukes were there.

and he doesn't seem to care at all. sits there with a "yes, I eat *'s sh*t while it's warm or when it's cold" while perfectly reasonable Dems point out the gross hypocrisy of his actions.

in the House we see partisan votes on rule after rule that eliminate even the possibility of debate or amendment.

we see police being called to break up Dems meeting.
we see a committee chairman that does not permit objections.

and the blatant, aggresive, even gleeful MEANNESS...

seriously, were the Dems EVER this bad???

were the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and long-standing rules of the Congress ever viewed as 'obstacles' to be overturned to solidify a single-party (actually, BushCo has only a financial interest in republicans) "government" controlled by a fascist, family controlled, international corporate empire?

god help us all

1. I'm sure someone can pull up something bad.
But even if Dems played underhanded hardball when they had absolute power what is happening today is an entirely different animal.

They are out to destroy Liberals and Progressives. No, not just defeat in e;ections, but destroy us.

As in finish us off.

This is the "End Game".

YES YES YES,up until the Nixon years, before tricky Dick made his infamous SOUTHERN STRATEGY move to bring the dixiecrats into the republican party, the southern dems had the likes of ole Strom,Jesse the tarheel is should I say just plain heel, all of the deep southern states were dems. The party of Lincoln became the party of Lott and the segs.( Wallace,Maddox, and his type). The republican party of Lincoln had such men as Javits of New York, and many other liberal republicans, the present gang of racist thugs are the bastards of Nixon.

3. haven't you been paying attention?
Slick Willy got semen on Monica's dress - that's practically Onanism, how can you get more evil than that???

Of course he did, he's 101% evil.
He raised taxes.
He shut down the government.
He caused the Bush recession and 911.
He killed Vince Foster and Ron Brown, and many others like Jimmy Hoffa.
He raped Paula Jones, and Linda Tripp, and thousands of other women. More than Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, and Kobe combined.
He even went so far as to lie, outright lie, to the American people. I know it is hard to believe that anybody could be that evil, but he was. That lie caused a ripple effect which has caused all crime and human suffering ever since.

You just need to read Hannity and Coulter. Just look at what the Democrats did to an actual war hero. Imagine treating someone who risked his life in a war the way they treated poor Joe McCarthy. I do not have time to list all of the evil, evil things he did. Entire libraries could be filled, and probably are being filled.

NB: I HOPE NOBODY TAKES ANYTHING ABOVE THIS LINE SERIOUSLY. I DON'T.

4. I don't think it has anything to do with being "the majority".
I only got into politics in 2000 so I can't say about historical Dems.

And while we're talking about Dems!

How about those Texas Dems?
Now they have the courage to fight the "meaness" of the repugs down there in Bluebell, Yellow Rose Country!

5. it has everything to do with being a majority

without the partisan, lockstep votes, they could NOT pervert the system, the HISTORY of the country the way they are.

6. Sorry! I meant that the republicans were "mean" had nothing
to do with it being the majority!

But, of course, I suppose they are meaner!

7. Republicans are Royalists. They are the Tories of the Revolutionary War
Edited on Sun Aug-03-03 06:21 PM by w4rma
They are the folks who were loyal to King George. And they are the folks who are subjects to this King George.

They are well paid propagandists and sychophants to the robber barons. They don't care if they lose their election, because they have a nice well-paid golden parachute waiting for them from some robber baron as a reward them for their loyalty.

Everything they do is to push our country towards a middle-ages feudal system with a King that they expect everyone to bow down to.

8. I think the majority
always uses the rules to its own benefit.

I think you notice the goring more when it's your ox getting gored.

9. No.
They were, of course, filled with thieves and knaves, but Democrats always had the good politcal sense to know that they could steal however much they wanted as long as the system worked for most people.

Dailey, Long, Hague, Tweed... the list is endless. But every one of them "shared the spoils" with their supporters and bribed the rest.

Not that I approve, of course, nor do I say that Republicans were squeaky clean, as Harding's administration proved. Republicans, however, never had the amount of ward heeling and need to actually get things done that most Democrats grew up with.

In more recent times, Democrats in Washington were perfectly willing to deal with the opposition to come up with compromises to get things done. When they ran the show, they realized that you don't vanquish the enemy, you work with him, and half a loaf and all... Even older Republicans like Goldwater and Dole knew the benefits of compromise. They would fight like cats and dogs, and Dixiecrats would fight with northern urban democrats, but they knew they had to get things done.

This crowd now, however, has no use for compromise. They are completely abusing their power. They are like little children with their first taste of adult life. They want the authority, but have no concept of the responsibility with that power.

10. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. That goes for anyone.
Which is why the Founding Fathers favored checks and balances, and created a congressional system in which nothing could get done without compromise.

It was a nice idea.

We hate what they are doing...We think they are evil...We think their agenda is evil....and absolutely horrible for America.

They feel the same way about us.

We cheer the TX democrats.

They hate them.

They cheer the CA recall.

We hate them for doing it.

We think cutting programs for the poor is evil and harmful to the country.

They think raising taxes is evil and harmful to the country.

It's all relative.
