I Don't Think Bush* Understands The Meaning Of The Words He Reads...
I heard snippets of his recent radio address and the manner in which he pronounced multisyllabic words made me believe that each syllable had been written down as a separate sound for him to utter. (That's mull-tye-sill-AB-ick.)

His pro-NUN-cee-aye-shun is so strained and forced. His sentences are broken. He inserts periods and commas where none would logically exist. He awkwardly emphasizes the wrong word, and often puts verbal stress on the wrong sylLAble.

All of these things indicate that he doesn't understand the meaning of what he's reading. To him they are just random words strung together... half of which he doesn't understand... that he has to muddle through trying to phonetically read. (That's fo-NET-ick-lee.)

Wake up America!

-- Allen

3. What a country!
A "C" student can grow up to be President. Now that's what I call opportunity!

17. That's a legacy "C"
On his own, I think he would have been struggling for a D-minus.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I can't believe this f**ing MORON is pResident!!!

Those "Cs" might have been legacy "D-s" if not for Vietnam.

2. I have noticed this too...and he often pauses as if expecting applause
when he manages to wrap his mush-mouth around something that most fourth graders could probably pronounce.
He clearly has very little grasp of the language altogether, either reading it or just speaking. He often uses the wrong word ('hostile' when he meant 'hostage;' 'resignate' when he meant 'resonate;') and he reads in a very halting and over-articulated fashion, rather like a drunk trying to pronounce his words carefully so as not to slur...

It's not working, Chimp...you sound as though you are half in the bag every time you open your lyin' piehole...

6. he does seem proud of himself
Will Ferrell captured this perfectly, had him saying all these foreign leaders names for no reason in a debate, then smirking self-satesfiedly. :-)

9. It's hard to believe he's wearing an earpiece,
but those awkward pauses make me think that:

he's wearing an earpiece.

I would love to know the truth on that.

11. "Mushmouth" = Drunk??
He truly has difficulty with the letter "s" or any "s" sound. Instead his mushmouth can only utter a sloppy "sh" or "sch" sound.

"Shome politichians in Washington shee this new shallenge, and they want to reshpond in old, in-e-ffective ways. They want to increash federal taxesh -- yet punishing familiesh and schmall businesshes is not a job-creation shtrategy. They want to build up trade wallsh, and ischolate America from the rest of the world -- but economic ischolationism would threaten the millions of good American jobs that depend on exshports. These tired, old polishies of tax and shpend, and economic isholationism, are a recipe for economic dishaster."

16. haha
The Sicilian Vizzini, I think, is probably smarter than George Dubya could ever be, even with the use of the word "Inconceivable!"

Dubya's more like Fezzik, I think. The only thing lacking is size.

He is a clueless sock puppet whose strings are pulled by Cheney, Rumfilled, and other PNACers who are orgasmic at having the opportunity to each be "president" on a topic of their choosing.

10. I often thought that...but then,
he may use that "I'm stupid image" to his advantage.......one tends to lower expectations of someone you think is stupid. Less confrontation is given to folks who are mentally challenged...right.....I think it is *bush's cover or mask that he wants to project.

15. I understand your point ...
... but don't agree. Not GWB.

The "bumbling fool" image that Boris Johnson (UK MP) puts on most of
the time is all very well ... then you realise that not only is he the
editor of a national newspaper but also a very quick and perceptive
opponent in a debate. Boris will (occasionally) "flash" in response to
needling and that's when you realise there is a lot of steel behind
that fluffy cover.

Bush has never given any of this impression - no "hidden strengths",
no "underlying character", no "disguised intelligence".

He is completely WYSIWYG.

He looks like a brainless dork because he is one.

He sounds like he's being prompted (rather than reading) because that
is what is happening.

You know, I'd really, REALLY, like to hear from some of the young kids
that have co-starred in his "school" photo-ops ... has he EVER read any
of the words in the book to the kids or did he just pretend?

Nihil

20. I asked my 7-year-old grandson
to read a poster that was placed in the veterinarian's office explaining tooth care or something like that. He read it much more fluently than * does. Even though he was unfamiliar with some of the words, he managed to pronounce them well. Therefore, I don't doubt my 7-year-old grandson could read those speeches better than * can.

21. like a child in a tantrum
Georgie thinks by raising his voice, repeating the same phrases, and showing his frustration will make the other give in. WRONG!

don't forget his extensive use of teleprompters

the man can't speak, bottom line. It's not due to his "regional" accent (a strange blend of Texas drawl and Connecticut elitism), nor does he seem to have learned the finer points of our language or public speaking technique during his many years at top universities.

worst....president....ever!

23. reading impediment
My wife thinks he's got some sort of reading or speech disorder that causes that stuff. Not that such a problem is directly related to intelligence, but it certainly doesn't help GWB in the mass-media sound-bite world.
