Let's talk about the republican "endgame".

Repukes are spinning faster than the Earth regarding bush* and his "leadership" and his role in the war on terra. Let's ask then, When does it all end? What will the world look like when bush* is done?

If they say we needed to invade and kill Iraq in the name of the war on terror, then where next? Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, China? Okay, let's go with that. How will we fund these excursions? Is a multi-trillion dollar deficit NECESSARY to pull this off? Who will comprise the forces of this conquest? There are only 290 million Americans, and even fewer of "fightin' age", so who will come along with us in our conquest to rule the world? How long should we expect this to last? 2 years, 5 years, should we just nuke all those that don't sign on beforehand and be done with it in 5 minutes?

Who will rule all these new terrortories? Will a new Homestead Act be passed? Will bush* finally deliver on the "40 acres and a mule" with "400 acres of sand dunes and a camel"?

What should "We the People" expect life to be like? Will we have unlimited access to oil(until it runs out), with worldwide admiration and no worry about travelling anywhere on the planet, or beyond, because "terrorism" is extinct? What of the I/P conflict? Will we just "take em all out" so we don't have to worry about it? Will "Our" dynasty be the one that finally lasts forever, unlike all others in history?

Is Nirvana the goal or is it Armageddon? If success in Iraq is currently demostrated by the death of our soldiers, is the killing off of all of us success squared?

Where are you taking us and why should we want to go there?

1. You give them too much credit..

Except for the PNAC whackos, none of the Repugs like Rove and Cheney give a goddam what happens tomorrow. All that matters is staying in power TODAY.

And if the means to stay in power is a vague "war" or "crusade" with no end in sight, then so much the better.

The secondary purpose is to funnel as much money to cronies and political allies as possible so as to increase the chances of staying in power and to enrich themselves.

2. Nuclear wars on political opponents

Lets say the neocons get us in to a nuclear shooting match. Then
both coastlines are incinerated in a nuclear fire, no matter what
damage we inflict on whatever enemy. Chicago, stlouis, dallas,
denver, minneapolis, memphis, houston, austin, san antonio are all
hit, and in the aftermath with 120 million dead, the republicans
will celibrate the death of mostly democrats. Then they can create
a proper theocracy.

3. I think Armageddon is closer to their long term goals

I think the Republicans are divided into three categories:

1) Those that think a Biblical Armageddon will occur soon, and anything we can do to speed it up will bring about the rapture more quickly. This is especially true in the rank and file and mid level office holders. Think religious zealots.

2) Those that think civilization is doomed to collapse soon, most probably from the peak oil problem (remember- much of this administration have direct ties to the oil business and should at least be aware of this)

3) Those that simply don't care about long term problems because they are fundamentally unable to deal with issues that do not immediately and directly effect them. This probably makes up the bulk of the Republican party, but there is likely a great deal of overlap with (1).

So basically, you have a group of people who think that the world will end one way or another anyway and so don't care about the havoc they cause in the long run supported by a larger group of people who simply don't care about things that don't immediately and directly effect them.

Hence, all problems are solved with short sited narrow minded solutions.

5. Republicans are divided into two categories.

1) Those that don't have anything at all and blame liberals and minorities for it.

2) Those that have everything and want to make damn sure that they keep it that way.

The rest is just smoke and mirrors on keeping group 1 happily being shafted by group 2. If bible and rapture talk fits into it, just so much the better.
