A National Day of Mourning for the 4 missionaries killed in Iraq?
I wouldn't be surprised. Bush knows no limits in his pandering to the religious right. A national day of mourning would highlight missionaries and all they do around the world. Too juicy for Rove and company to pass up!

6. Yeah, I could go with a day of mourning

for everyone, of all nationalities - especially the Iraqis - who have died in this US contrived war. But that would come too close to the Emperor admitting that he was in error - and that won't happen. He would rather talk about how those godless a-rabs killed good Christian people because they hated their freeedom.

5. They were probably thinking they could do some good.
And doubtless they knew the danger. That's what missionaries do: they go to dangerous places; some go to help people, some go to proseletyze, and some go to do both.

A national day of mourning for four missionaries? No. The * Admin won't call for that. But I agree that a national day of mourning should be called for, for all the dead: soldiers and civilians of all nationalities.

3. Jesus, how 'bout a day of mourning for the troops
fighting for Bush's business buddies?

Not to mention all the Iraqi civilians.

4. Too risky - there might be some non-christians in the group.
Mustn't honor non-christians - wouldn't be prudent.
