So, if the RW had won in Spain, would it have been a victory for
the terrorists?

The media keep playing the "terrorists influenced/won the election" by voting out Aznar's puppet.

So if the socialists had lost, would the terrorists have won, as in, "we love the fact that Aznar's government can't protect us from terror...and since the terrorists pulled off this horrible attack, we liked it so much we'll take another...and since the Aznar government has just proved that they can't stop terror attacks, we'll make even it easier for the terrorists the next time by keeping his party in power...ergo the terrorists have won?"

7. Still out, but it looks like it's trying to come back.
I've got interference now rather than a black screen.

3. Hmm....
Personally, I don't think that the people behind that attack (at that time and place) didn't care what government party was in charge.

4. Great post
maybe one that will invoke actual thinking - instead of the massive brainwashing being handed to the masses.

5. Americans can't even begin to understand Spanish politics.
It's so infuriating to me that we pretend to know it all, that we're so US-centric that we think the Spanish election was all about us.

The new Newsweek cover splashes a headline of "Europe's 9/11." I just find that to be a little disturbing... as if Europe can only suffer in comparison to our suffering.

8. American's don't even understand *American* politics.
The media's position is that ANYONE who disagrees with bush is wrong on some level. It doesn't matter what your nationality happens to be. It's disgusting.

10. exactly... America too often "officially" thinks AND ACTS
as the center of the universe, as if the whole world must have us as their #1 priority

but they hate us for our freedom, right?

11. The RW propagandists sure spun this incident in record time.
Could they have been expecting the Spanish election results and therefore were ready the instant in happened to spin the aiding terrorists angle to the RW media?

12. Yes, and, polls, *schmolls.* There are people in America...

... who still actually believe George W. Bush was democratically elected.

I'd love a link to these so-called earth-shattering Spanish polls which predicted a crushing Aznar victory just prior to the Madrid bombings. The RW spun this election so rapidly, I can't even keep up. Did anyone here in the US see any internal Spanish polling prior to the Madrid attacks? And now we're supposed to take their word about the heretofore nonexistent Spanish polling?

So, suddenly we're tuned-in to European feelings? Suddenly, we care about what the Spanish think? Our media presents itself as one that is in tune with the subtle nuances of intricate Spanish politics. Jesus, they can't even predict the eventual Democratic nominee for President, yet now they're claiming to understand the political minds of our Spanish allies?

Un-fuckin-believable.

Tired of the newest RW meme, which appears to be taking hold,
Jennifer
