David Mamet: Bush will announce capture of bin Laden on Oct. 17
"Write it down, Oct. 17," says David Mamet, when asked to defend the presumption of his riveting new thriller, "Spartan," which is that the American public is blissfully unaware of how its government really operates.

"That's the day they (meaning the Bush administration) announce that they have found bin Laden," says Mamet. "If I'm wrong, it will only be because its hand has been forced by a reporter with no one's water to carry or a turncoat. This is a vicious game and it always has been, and most of the time the public would just rather not know

1. My pick is Oct 24,
a Sunday, so the networks can run footage of his capture all day. Also, that's a little closer to the election, so people won't have time to figure out they've been had.

3. Who care if Bin Laden will be capture or has been captured...
Al Queda can operate without him.

Capturing him then or tomorrow is no big deal strategically in the fight against terrorism.

There shouldn't even be a war - there should be peace talks (yesterday).

4. October 17
What effect do you think bumper stickers would have that ask Bush if he is waiting until October 2004 to capture Bin Laden?

5. Good idea but he doesn't have to wait if he already has Ben Laden

I think the idea is that he's been captured and is being held on ice somewhere.

6. agreed..
the perception of capturing the "head man" and the natives will capitulate is the colonalist dictum..this has proved to be a failure in iraq..as the capture of saddam has only removed one more obstacle to iraqi resistance to the foreign occupiers..the capture of OBL will prove to be nothing more than a speed bump to international terrorism and will in fact only inspire a younger generation of soldiers to follow the lead of a matryed OBL..the whole concept of a war on terror is a bogus misrepresentation and the people of spain have seen through it..

7. No peace talks for those who have attacked us
We can negotiate with other Muslim groups for long term peace, but Bin Laden and his crew have to be killed.
